Ripple hires Swift board member to take over global accounts


Rage Review : Marcus Treacher was one of the 20 board members of Swift (Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication) in 2013, and he is also a member of the Banking and Payment Committee and the Technology Committee. Recently, the distributed ledger startup Ripple hired board member Marcus Treacher as the company's global strategic account director. Ripple CEO Chris Larsen praised Treacher's work experience and believed that he could improve the global payment system.

Distributed ledger startup Ripple recently hired board member Marcus Treacher as the company’s global head of strategic accounts.

Treacher was one of 20 board members of Swift in 2013, where his main responsibility was to oversee the company’s advisory group. He was also a member of the Banking and Payments Committee and the Technology Committee.

Treacher was also one of the global heads of payment innovation at HSBC until November 2015. Treacher will now take up a position at Ripple’s European operations headquarters in London.

In the press release, Ripple praised Treacher for being a driver of blockchain and distributed ledgers during his tenure at HSBC.

Treacher said in a statement:

“Since the dawn of the web, I have been exploring how technology can impact and improve banking. I was attracted to Ripple because they have the vision and expertise to truly transform the future of banking and payments.”

In the press release, Ripple CEO Chris Larsen praised Treacher’s experience and believed he could improve the global payment system.

This appointment was obviously made in consideration of the previous inference from Internet finance that blockchain technology will one day shake Swift's position in the global financial system.
