Coincheck accepts Bitcoin donations for Japan earthquake victims

Japanese Bitcoin exchange Coincheck is currently collecting donations for victims of the Japanese earthquake.

Accept Bitcoin Donations

At present, Bitcoin donations have been received from 146 donors, totaling 26.865 BTC (approximately US$116.15 million).

Two earthquakes near Kumamoto Castle on Kyushu Island have killed at least 29 people and injured about 2,000. The first earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.2, struck on April 14, killing 10 people and destroying several buildings.

However, the earthquake was confirmed to be just a foreshock, and another more powerful earthquake (magnitude 7.0) struck the area again at midnight on April 16, causing more deaths and damage, and many casualties are still unknown.

Coincheck Donation Campaign

Coincheck will convert the donated bitcoins and then pass the donations to the NGO Peace Wind Japan (PWJ).

Founded in September 2014, Coincheck is the largest Bitcoin exchange in Japan. With the popularity of Ethereum, it has now started to support Ethereum transactions. It has become one of the most popular platforms in Japan. Coincheck invites others to use its services to make Bitcoin donations.
