Japanese Bitcoin Exchange bitFlyer Receives $27 Million in New Investment

     BitFlyer, a well-known Japanese digital currency exchange, recently raised 3 billion yen (about 27 million US dollars) in new funds, which were jointly invested by Japanese investors, India's National Investment Bank and Tokyo Venture Capital Corporation.

     According to the latest data, the exchange had more than 150,000 new users in April alone, more than 10 times the same period last year. According to a report from Nikkei, the new capital will help bitFlyer conduct research and development of blockchain technology.

     The Kraken exchange is the most high-profile digital currency exchange in recent years. The exchange has also received investment from many Japanese investors and received a huge investment earlier this year.

     The increase in funding for Bitcoin companies and new financial sectors may be influenced by the fact that Japanese authorities are considering Bitcoin as a currency. In early March this year, the Japanese cabinet passed a bill to officially recognize virtual currencies such as Bitcoin as official circulating currencies.

There are also rumors that bitFlyer is planning an e-commerce site that will accept Bitcoin payments .

     The total amount of funds raised by bitFlyer to date, including new capital, totals more than $35 million.
