Australian Craig Wright: I am Satoshi Nakamoto

The British Broadcasting Corporation BBC reported that Australian entrepreneur Craig Steven Wright has publicly admitted that he is the founder of the virtual electronic currency Bitcoin, using the pseudonym "Satoshi Nakamoto".

In addition to Wright's voluntary submission of his own keys as evidence, Gavin Andersen, an important member of the Bitcoin community, has also confirmed his statement.

“I believe Craig Steven Wright is the man who invented Bitcoin,” Andersen wrote on his website.

He said he met Wright in London a few weeks ago. Before the meeting, he had an email conversation with Wright. During the conversation, he believed that Wright was very likely to be the "Satoshi Nakamoto" with whom he communicated between 2010 and 2011. After meeting in London, Andersen confirmed that Craig Wright was "Satoshi Nakamoto" "without a doubt".

Although some people had previously speculated that Wright was "Satoshi Nakamoto", this time it was Wright who took the initiative to contact three media outlets, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), The Economist and GQ magazine, to disclose his identity.
In his meeting with the media, Wright signed digital messages using keys created in the early days of Bitcoin, which have long been considered inseparable from the Bitcoin blocks created (or "mined") by Satoshi Nakamoto.

Wright said that he made his identity public in the hope that the media would stop speculating about his identity. Previously, media organizations including The New Yorker and Newsweek had conducted in-depth investigations and reports on the identity of the founder of Bitcoin, and came to different conclusions.

In December 2015, Wired and Gizmodo magazines received a series of documents that may have been stolen from Wright. Based on the leaked legal advice and paper texts, they inferred that he was related to the Bitcoin project and was likely the inventor of Bitcoin, who has long used the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto. However, Wright himself did not confirm it at the time.

This time, Wright personally admitted that he is "Satoshi Nakamoto" and provided evidence, which may end the outside world's nearly eight years of speculation about his mysterious identity.

For a long time, the person or team with the pseudonym "Satoshi Nakamoto" has been considered the creator of the Bitcoin protocol and its related software BitCoin-Qt. In 2008, he published a paper titled "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System" on the cryptography mailing list of the metzdowd.com website. The paper describes an electronic currency he calls "Bitcoin" and its algorithm, and details how to create a decentralized electronic transaction system that does not require mutual trust between the two parties.

In January 2009, he developed the first Bitcoin algorithm software and conducted the first mining, obtaining the first 50 Bitcoins. Starting in mid-2010, Nakamoto gradually withdrew from the project and gradually handed it over to important members of the Bitcoin community, including Gavin Andresen.
