Akasha is a blogging site that does not require moderation

Rage Comment : Modern information society and Internet progress have not yet achieved complete freedom of speech. The strict review system and security loopholes of online information release seriously affect the storage of user information. Akasha hopes to break through these obstacles with a social network based on the Ethereum blockchain. Its founder is Mihai Alisie, co-founder of Ethereum. Akasha, which uses technologies such as Electron, React, Redux and Node.js, guarantees that it will not be affected by information review and will not lose user data. Currently, the platform supports Linux, MacOS and Windows.

The Akasha Project was launched on May 3rd. The creator is Mihai Alisie, the co-founder of Ethereum. The goal of this venture capital is to build a social network on the Ethereum blockchain, integrating technologies such as IPFS, Electron, React and Node.js. Its purpose is to build a social network that does not require auditing and is not afraid of user data loss.

Mihai Alisie

Mihai Alisie is the CEO and founder of the Askaha project. He started working with Blockchain Technologies in 2011. He founded Bitcoin Magazine with Vitalik Buterin and later co-founded Ethereum, which is known as the most advanced protocol. In 2015, he left Ethereum and began to prepare Akasha, a next-generation social network supported by the Ethereum World Computer and Inter-Planetary File System (IPFS).

The network was launched on May 3, World Press Freedom Day. The timing is no coincidence. Akasha is all about creating an audit-free network whose file system won’t lose site content; that is, the information users share will be stored forever on the IPFS network’s nodes.

Akasha explains its purpose in its blog post.

"We want to create solutions that address the two greatest challenges of the modern information society: freedom of expression and perpetuity of innovation."

Alisie also believes that the existing audit system is the most stringent, and centralization has exacerbated the severity of the problem. Even a single point of failure may cause the information audit to fail.

IPFS splits user information and data, and its security is guaranteed by all nodes of the IPFS network. The project also applies technologies such as Electron, React, Redux and Node.js.

“We are not just a social media platform, we are primarily building the social structure of the nascent etherweb.”

Akasha will focus on developing a blogging platform and look forward to developing new features in the future. The project hopes to become part of Web3.0. With Ethereum, Akasha does not need a centralized server infrastructure, which means they cannot control your information; and IPFS publishes all user data to secure nodes.

The project is just getting started and users and developers are encouraged to participate. Software testing invitations will be released in the next few weeks. The supported platforms include Linux, MacOS and Windows.
