Augur and Airbitz collaborate to decentralize the storage of private keys and account data, solving one of the biggest problems of Dapps

Augur, the Ethereum-based prediction market platform, has partnered with Airbitz to use Airbitz’s Edge Security Platform. Airbitz is a battle-tested blockchain security solutions specialist that automatically encrypts, backs up, and syncs private keys and account data across devices.

The Airbitz security platform provides an easy-to-use and secure account creation process that protects end-users’ personal devices, including phones and tablets, rather than trying to protect central servers that control data. The company’s partnership with Augur will bring the Edge security platform to other Ethereum-based decentralized applications (Dapps).

Augur has been called 'Uber for Smarter People'. It provides a decentralized (and therefore unboughtable) prediction market platform that uses collective intelligence to answer all possible future scenarios; Augur allows people to speculate or hedge against the outcomes of all things that could go wrong. Augur is the first Dapp built on Ethereum, raising $5.3 million in its first crowdsale.

Augur core developer Joey Krug said:

“One of the biggest usability issues for Dapps right now is that there is no good way to store private keys and account data without using a centralized server. Airbitz solves this problem for Augur.”

Augur's partnership means that all Ethereum-based applications can now use the Edge security platform, a move that will enable more users to use Augur's services while ensuring that users are the only ones who control their own private data. Airbitz plans to bring the Edge security platform to more applications in the fields of Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc. The company positions itself as the world's first fully private single-signature and key management blockchain solution.
