BlockCypher Releases Ethereum User Interface Toolkit

Rage Review : BlockCypher, a blockchain application development startup, released an Ethereum user program interface (API) toolkit. Professional services company Deloitte will be one of the first users to use the toolkit. The beta test version released today includes an API for hosting Ethereum accounts, tracking balances, and facilitating transactions. Deloitte's cooperation with BlockCypher means that a variety of smart contracts on Ethereum can be used, and the Bitcoin blockchain can be used for value transfer, which is conducive to the development of Deloitte's business and improves efficiency. More and more startups are putting their application interfaces on the Ethereum blockchain, and the performance of the Ethereum platform is increasingly recognized.

Blockchain application development startup BlockCypher has released a toolkit of Ethereum user programming interfaces (APIs) to meet the needs of developers, a move the company says could see professional services firm Deloitte become one of the first users.

Catheryne Nicholson, CEO and co-founder of BlockCypher, said the addition of the Ethereum platform was to meet the needs of more than half of the company's users who want to use the Ethereum platform, while also allowing Bitcoin remittance startup Abra to use this new toolkit.

In an interview at CoinDesk’s Exponential Finance conference in New York, Nicholson said as many as half of the company’s developers have requested ethereum integration.

Nicholson said in an interview:

“Our main source of income comes from developers. What we have to do is to meet their needs. The first thing they need is the Ethereum platform, so we have to build application programming interfaces (APIs) on the Ethereum blockchain.”

The company was founded in 2014 and mainly provides application building services to blockchain developers. It raised US$3 million in seed round financing last year. Its main investors include Tim Draper, AME Cloud Ventures of Yahoo founder Jerry Yang, etc.

The beta version released today includes an application programming interface for hosting ethereum accounts, tracking balances, and facilitating transactions.

Nicholson said the platform’s Turing-complete programming language has already attracted attention from the company’s user base.

She said:

"It's a much more powerful scripting language, it's much easier to operate, and the platform is in a standard programming language user interface rather than in machine language."

Eric Piscini

Deloitte CEO Eric Piscini said his team of 12 U.S. blockchain experts has been working with startup BlockCypher to develop two prototypes built on the bitcoin blockchain.

He said what really attracted him to the Ethereum integration was that blockchain teams would be able to build new products without having to learn new skills. Earlier this year, Deloitte announced its first partnership with BlockCypher.

Piscini told CoinDesk:

“If you need smart contracts, you can find them on the Ethereum platform in most cases, and if you need to do basic value exchange, you can use the Bitcoin blockchain.”
