Becoming an OTC professional trader from scratch [Part 1]

Becoming an OTC professional trader from scratch [Part 1]

Prologue: The Golden Age

Chances are this is a story that can make you money!

During the time when I became a full-fledged professional trader, I was making nearly a coin a day which I am still very proud of!

I am Lao Mao. If you know a little about the Bitcoin industry, I am probably the Lao Mao that you have heard of but may not know.

If you can see this documentary novel (let's call it a novel, it's actually just a diary of what happened over a few months, but because there are some interesting stories in this diary, I shamelessly call it a novel.), the price of Bitcoin should be at least 5,000 yuan at this time. Of course, as an old man in the currency circle, it seems a bit shy to talk about the price, because that is not very classy, but if you knew that this article was written when Bitcoin was 1,540 yuan, you would be able to forgive my shameless bragging. The reason why I will publish this article after the Bitcoin price stabilizes at more than 5,000 is because I can make more than 5,000 yuan a day, which makes everyone feel more exciting.

In addition, all the people in this novel are described as realistically as possible from the perspective of Lao Mao. If you finish reading this novel, you may have a glimpse of the state of the Chinese Bitcoin market around 2015. That stage, now looking back, may be the golden age, just like the 1960s in the United States, full of opportunities and challenges.

Preface: About the old cat

I first came into contact with Bitcoin in early 2013, when there was only one Bitcoin exchange, "Bitcoin China". I only dared to buy 20 bitcoins for more than 300 yuan. Although I am timid, my love for Bitcoin is beyond words. The reason is very simple, just like the reason why many people like it now, because it is truly my own property and no organization can deprive it of it.

The first time Lao Mao appeared in the Bitcoin circle was after the big bubble of 8,000 yuan at the end of 2013. At that time, the Bitcoin circle was still hot, and something called sentiment became popular. As a Bitcoin enthusiast who had a little knowledge of the technology, he built a non-profit Bitcoin shopping platform called "Pineapple Market" in his spare time. The joining of Du Jiuyi, another well-known figure in the circle, also made this platform well-known in the circle. At the busiest time, the server was actually visited and crashed, and it also accepted an interview with the American "Forbes" online. However, the sharp decline in the price of the currency made all entrepreneurship more difficult. With Lao Mao officially joining Pixiu, the matter of Pineapple Market came to an end.

It's not over yet, let me say a few more words

Because of Qiu Liang’s sincere invitation and my admiration for Teacher Xiaolai’s personal charm, I joined Pixiu in September 2014, and then started all kinds of struggles. Maybe it was because of my lack of skills, bad luck, or maybe there was something called a bottom line, the operation of Yunbi has always been like warm boiled water, and I could never find a hot spot.

After the Lunar New Year in 2015, as the market conditions further deteriorated, the technical team had disagreements over the direction of the project, and some members left. Although I chose to stay, I was actually confused about the future prospects. If I continued to stay in the cryptocurrency circle, would I become a pioneer or a martyr? This became a heavy stone weighing on my heart.

This stone weighed on me for nearly five months. During this period, Lao Mao ended his remote work in Shanghai and came to Beijing, becoming a member of the Beijing cryptocurrency circle in Haidian. However, the problem before them was that both individuals and teams needed an opportunity to break through.

Teacher Xiaolai still understood me. One afternoon, he asked me out to play billiard. This appointment unexpectedly determined the development space for the team. This meeting, in retrospect, is somewhat dramatic. Our appointment to meet seems to have nothing to do with the actual results achieved later, but this may be a destined result.

Chapter 1: September 1st is coming

Jiuyi, also known as Du Jiuyi on Weibo, was one of the early operating members of OKCoin. He later left OKCoin and worked with Zhao Dong on the Galaxy Dragonfly joint mining. In his spare time, he helped to promote the products at the Pineapple Market. Because he had a bit of chivalrous spirit and a good reputation in the circle, he was also one of the guides of the Laomaocoin circle. The development of this story has a lot to do with Jiuyi.

At that time, Jiuyi was in his hometown in Henan to accompany his wife who was pregnant. When his condition was relatively stable, Jiuyi took a trip to Southeast Asia and stopped by Beijing to visit his friends. I was one of those friends he happened to see.

Jiuyi was doing two things at the same time. One was to set up a small hedge fund, and the other was to do over-the-counter trading of Bitcoin on LBC with Dongshu. It was said that the returns were not bad, but the principal was not enough. He came to Beijing to visit friends and wanted to see if he could borrow some sleeping Bitcoin to make money together. My dozens of coins were now lying in Xingkong’s financial management, but Jiuyi required more than 100 to borrow. Too few settlements were too troublesome, so he disliked it. I had experienced the shock of the piggy bank incident, and I was relatively afraid of borrowing coins. After all, I felt more at ease when I held them in my own hands. So I just went to Xingkong Company to eat and drink. When I was drunk, I asked Jiuyi if I could also do offline transactions. To be honest, I just wanted to make some money at the time. Jiuyi said that anyone could do it, there was no threshold, as long as you had coins, you could sell them.

At that time, I was wary of this platform. It was a foreign platform, and I had no idea about its background. What if they ran away with my coins? There are so many pitfalls in the cryptocurrency circle, and it is impossible to say that I have no concerns. I went to see Uncle Dong for this matter. Uncle Dong was very frank. He said that this platform can earn dozens of coins every day, and there is no point in running away, so it is relatively safe. (I feel a little depressed at this moment. Is it because Yunbi does not charge handling fees that makes others feel unsafe, so the number of customers is always difficult to grow on a large scale?)

It still takes some courage to trade on LBC. For example, will there be business? Will it affect my work? But the possibility of making money finally made me decide to give it a try. I will just play for a few days and then stop.
