Blocksafe, the world's first blockchain gun authentication platform, launches crowdsale to make gun use smarter

Recently, shooting incidents have occurred frequently, whether it is the Orlando shooting in the United States or the Fernheim shooting in Germany, too many people have lost their precious lives. This makes people start to think, should the regulations on legal gun ownership be abolished? Are there some ways to control gun abuse?

Blockchain company Smartdefense.tech recently launched a crowdsale, aiming to establish the world's first blockchain-based gun authentication platform Blocksafe Network to realize the intelligent use of guns.

Firearms certification issues

Kevin Barnes, chairman of Smartdefense.tech, believes that there will be many problems in the early stages of realizing intelligent gun records, because for most gun owners, authenticating guns on a centralized database means that the government can conduct real-time monitoring, and they will no longer have the right to freely dispose of guns.

Blocksafe has attracted many leaders in the blockchain and firearms industries. Blocksafe is currently crowdfunding and plans to raise at least $55,000 by July 15 to initially develop this unique platform.

Blocksafe Operation Model

Barnes said Blocksafe supports a variety of hardware locks for securing guns, and that they come from different manufacturers but all work in a similar way.

The gun owner can choose the hardware lock to determine the specific authentication method, such as biometrics, and the gun owner can unlock the gun with a fingerprint or password. These authentication data can be compared with the original encrypted ledger data on the local device. The original data is based on the app and can be stored through the mobile phone Bluetooth connection.

If the authentication is successful, the gun can be used normally, otherwise, the gun will be locked. With the blockchain, a secure information system, a holder can authorize multiple users through a mobile app or website. When the phone is connected to Blocksafe, the holder also has the right to remotely revoke the user's permissions. The above permissions are limited to the gun holder.

The government can benefit from

Barnes said the government has already recognized blockchain technology, which is why it has invested in researching how blockchain can improve its legacy systems.

I think governments will also choose to use the Blocksafe platform because it is beneficial to them. Blocksafe helps smart devices improve training safety, record gun inventory and location, and government user behavior.

Internet drives communication

In addition, Barnes said that smart devices can communicate directly with the Blocksafe ledger. The data is stored on the personal device through an encrypted digital key. Therefore, the authentication process is instant and does not require a wifi connection.

As long as the smart device is connected to the Blocksafe platform, local data will be synchronized. In order to prevent the disclosure of personal privacy, only the gun owner can view the relevant data on the smartphone or website. Therefore, this process will involve two "keys": a private key is used to synchronize the blockchain ledger data, and a data private key protects the holder's device data. If the gun owner wants to share the device record, they must first share the data private key. However, smart devices will not ask for gun information or user information, so even if the data private key is shared, it is only a door key that is leaked, and it is unknown which door can be opened.
