Bitcoin Jesus Roger Ver accuses /r/Bitcoin of strict censorship, accusing it of being a Bitcoin Core personal show

Since the block capacity issue emerged, the Bitcoin community has been in constant dispute. Bitcoin expansion has divided the community into two extreme factions, one supporting expansion and the other opposing it. The two sides often argue fiercely on social networking sites.

They often have heated debates in the Bitcoin subreddit group on the social platform Reddit. The purpose of Bitcoin subreddit was to provide a platform for Bitcoin users to communicate, but now some users accuse it of becoming a show for Bitcoin Core, specifically used to oppose block expansion. Several celebrities in the Bitcoin community have publicly accused the Bitcoin subreddit of censorship by moderators, including Bitcoin Jesus Roger Ver.

The civil war in the Bitcoin community intensified after Ver publicly accused /r/Bitcoin of deleting a post criticizing Bitcoin Core on the Bitcoin subreddit, Theymos.

Roger Ver said that the above forum is only suitable for a small number of people, and this behavior will only dampen the enthusiasm of Bitcoin community members. In addition, he also called on people to protest against this censorship.

I recently publicly asked Greg Maxwell (Bitcoin Core developer) what he thought about this unwarranted censorship. Here’s what happened.

(Deleted by Theymos)

This post is pinned, so he must have seen it, but he refused to comment. This shows his character.

People like Greg Maxwell and Theymos who refuse to speak out publicly about censorship (deleting opinions that dissenter from them) should be ashamed, and we should call them out publicly.

Roger Ver's complaint was responded to by Theymos, who said that the management of the Bitcoin subreddit does not involve any financial transactions.

No money is exchanged for /r/Bitcoin. I am not an employee of any Bitcoin company. Blockstream has never offered me any financial or other benefits, nor have I ever been offered any. There is no subsidy for running /r/Bitcoin. If I can increase the block size while keeping the network secure, that is good for me. I have no interest in resisting block size increases or the Lightning Network.

However, he did not directly respond to Roger Ver's question. In order to ensure the vitality of the network, everyone plays their part in providing computing power and transactions for Bitcoin. Why can only one person or a group of people decide the fate of an open source platform like Bitcoin?

This war is far from over.
