On August 2, London time, Thomson Reuters announced that it had joined an alliance of the world's largest financial institutions to explore how to apply blockchain technology to global financial markets. The alliance was established last year by R3CEV, an Internet financial company in New York, with more than 55 members from banks and financial institutions. According to R3, Thomson Reuters is the first large data and technology provider to join the alliance. Blockchain technology supporters say that blockchain has the potential to change the way markets operate. The underlying technology of Bitcoin creates a shared database whose participants can trace any transaction record. Thomson Reuters is the parent company of Reuters. |
