Bitmain wants to restart Bitcoin home mining and launches mining machine R4

Bitcoin mining at home seems to be impossible. Not only is the equipment expensive, but mining generates a lot of noise and heat. And, with rising electricity costs, the benefits of mining are almost negligible. But Bitmain's recently released R4 mining machine will be specially designed for home mining.

Bitmain wants to restart Bitcoin home mining

Although the official R4 bitcoin miner has been removed from Antminer's official website, some websites have recorded some details that the Asian bitcoin hardware manufacturer may restart bitcoin home mining with its latest miner.

It is important to know that the mining machine still costs a lot of money, and the estimated price is $1,000. With this mining machine, users can get 8.6TH/s of Bitcoin mining power. This is not a way to get rich quickly, but it is indeed a lot of computing power for home mining.

The power consumption of this Bitcoin miner is relatively low. With a power consumption of only 845 watts, the Antminer R4 is indeed more energy efficient than the miners manufactured a year or two ago. This device uses Bitmain's BM1387 16nm ASIC chip.

You need to buy a separate power supply to use the Antminer R4, which is also available in the Antminer online store. The power supply costs $300, but it ensures that there are no abnormal problems during use. Due to its central fan design, the noise is not loud either, and the maximum noise generated by the R4 is expected to be less than 52 decibels. Compared with other devices, this is quite quiet.

The total cost of this miner is $1,300, and the expected payback period is 1 year. That is, assuming your electricity costs are reasonable and do not exceed 10 cents per kWh. Depending on the state of Bitcoin mining, these numbers may change slightly. In addition, the surge in Bitcoin prices will also shorten the payback period.
