The appointment was announced yesterday by the New York-based blockchain company, which is working to advance blockchain applications in capital markets. Long will bring her experience from Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse to the startup, particularly her expertise in those firms’ distributed ledger working groups.

Long revealed that Symbiont has completed part of its Series A financing, which has been going on quietly, and there were rumors in the industry that it had started in early 2016. She hopes to use this platform to promote the company's technological capabilities.

“Our platform is the only smart contract platform tailor-made for the financial institution market.”

Long hopes the company can provide an effective smart contract platform, scalable blockchain technology, and the ability to develop and implement strategies comparable to those of large enterprises.

In 2014, Mark Smith and Counterparty founders Adam Krellenstein and Evan Wagner co-founded Symbiont, which has now completed $1.25 million in financing and formed a team of ten people.

The company’s most significant news to date was the announcement of a pilot project in Delaware, USA, in May this year.
