Ujo Music is about to launch a purely commercial music platform based on blockchain

Baozou Review : Ujo Music is a blockchain startup founded in 2015. It has presented its blockchain music concept with other companies at the Berlin Music Festival in Germany. Ujo Music allows artists to own and manage their own works, and plans to launch a purely commercial music platform using blockchain technology in early 2017.

The company revealed that the first version will allow artists to register their music on the Ethereum blockchain, which fans can then download and listen to, according to news reports.

The company explained to the media:

"We've built a service that allows artists to manage their own artist identity and music and obtain licenses for their personal work. We're starting small to help forward-thinking artists maintain their creativity."

In 2015, Ujo helped musician Imogen Heap release the work "Tiny Human" using blockchain. Fans can purchase licenses to download, listen to, and remix the work, and the money paid by fans will be automatically allocated to Heap and the partners of the work. The startup also cooperates with many brands to "re-digitize these catalogs in an open source blockchain system" and encourages developers to develop applications on the platform.

In addition to Ujo Music, many music industry projects have turned to blockchain technology, such as Mycelia, launched by singer/songwriter/producer Imogen Heap, and Dot Blockchain Music, founded by PledgeMusic founder Benji Rogers. Other projects have already gained user groups in 70 countries, such as Blokur, Aurovine, Resonate, Peertracks, Stem, and Bittunes.
