ABN AMRO announces plans to offer a wallet service that supports both fiat and Bitcoin

ABN AMRO Bank customers may soon be able to use bitcoin wallets provided by their banking service provider. The bank recently conducted a survey on its website to gauge interest in bitcoin among its banking customers.

ABN AMRO Innovation Center has conducted a survey to find out if the Dutch Bitcoin community is willing to use a Bitcoin wallet developed by the bank. This is not surprising as the bank is known to be researching Bitcoin and blockchain-related technologies. As Bitcoin usage continues to expand, if the bank can provide a way to store not only fiat currency but also digital currencies, they can attract more customers.

According to the announcement of ABN AMRO, the banking giant has plans to provide Bitcoin wallet services in its secure environment. At the same time, it will provide the bank's Dutch users with a unified place to manage their finances. All transactions involving the bank's Bitcoin wallet will be conducted through the bank's own website and application, and the bank will include Bitcoin transactions in customers' bank statements.

ABN AMRO’s idea of ​​combining the traditional and Bitcoin economies does sound great. However, it may not be for everyone. Individuals who want to keep their fiat and digital currencies separate will likely continue to use separate Bitcoin wallet apps.
