Blockchain innovation can bring back pre-9/11 optimism

Rage Comment : Times are always changing, bringing joy and sorrow to people along the way. The 911 terrorist attacks broke the tranquility of people's world and shattered their beautiful wishes. In order to regain people's confidence, many people have made efforts, including politicians, scholars, and the general public. But none of them can compare with the Bitcoin and blockchain era brought by Satoshi Nakamoto. It is unique, true freedom and democracy that is not manipulated by someone.

The millennium brought us a generally positive and optimistic attitude, but September 11, 2001, brought major changes to this wealthiest, most educated and most populous millennial generation.

When the night falls, the millennials feel cheated, that there is no peace; in their memory, the distance between the fall of the Berlin Wall and the peaceful September 11th is not far. People were ruthlessly killed on the streets, in clubs, in cafes, and on the road, and they will always think of this dark history.

Soon after 2003, shock gave way to anger; now these millennials have grown up and are in college. Tensions are building and seem to be spreading to every corner of the street; in 2007, two years into his third term, Tony Blair resigned as party leader and prime minister, perhaps the most hated man in Britain. Reporters say the government recommended not to use words like terror. Then Obama came along, bringing change and hope.

Millennials join the workforce just as the once-in-a-century economic crisis hits. Students in London demonstrate their anger at a rally in 2011. The Arabian Peninsula, ignited by hope, plunges into the flames of war.

Times make heroes

Slovenian philosopher Zizek appeared, but he only brought a failed experiment of communism; but time has not let us down, and Satoshi Nakamoto brought new hope. People, especially young people, rushed to buy Bitcoin, and the price of Bitcoin rose from the same level as the US dollar to $100, and finally to the same level as gold.

Bitcoin brings liberalism, or classical liberalism, to this generation; unlike the political philosopher Zizek, who is suitable for the era of totalitarianism, this philosophy has enabled the Republican candidate Trump to gain support from the grassroots for the first time, with young people and students openly supporting Trump.

They follow Milo Yiannopoulos, who adopted Bitcoin, and listen to his deconstruction of identity politics and gender studies as factors used to control rather than unite; and divide people into black and white, male and female, gay and straight.

New Age Art and Ancient Gods

This gave people a new energy and gave rise to the art exhibition Burning Man, a grassroots festival that revived the tradition of celebrating the sun's zenith by burning things, representing its brightness and heat.

The movement, especially popular among twentysomethings, marked a rebellion against a single religion, and its time coincided with the 1,000-year dark age between Rome and the Renaissance; yet Galileo solemnly declared that the earth kept on turning.

It also marks the return of the ancient Greek gods; they are full of meaning, the embodiment of human characteristics and qualities, bringing about the most beautiful works of art and literature, giving birth to philosophy and democracy, and promoting the progress of mathematics and astronomy.

Optimism in the new era

These factors combined to create a new optimism as millennials took on their responsibilities: They weren’t setting buildings on fire or marching in the streets; they were working in computers, creating technology, and starting startups in the hope of disrupting everything for the better, including politics.

The invention of blockchain brings us hope for smart devices. Smart contracts guarantee the storage of value, realize new institutional models such as The DAO and crowdfunding financing systems, and open up free value exchange and trade.

It brings new optimism that we can do better and the world will be full of artistic beauty, creativity, innovation and peace. It also symbolizes the reappearance of our own values that we once believed in; before 9/11, we took peace as the main line and did not take the initiative to provoke war; the world is moving rapidly towards a highly interconnected, beautiful and efficient direction.
