Bitcoin Unlimited's four major expansion proposals were rejected by the organizers of the Bitcoin Expansion Conference, and the Reddit BTC community criticized it for being unfair

Organizers of the Scaling Bitcoin Conference Bitcoin Conference, which is backed by leading Bitcoin industry companies including Blockstream, BTCC, Kraken, and Bitfury, have come under criticism from the Reddit BTC community for rejecting all four proposals introduced by the Bitcoin Unlimited team.

Scaling Bitcoin Conference workshops and conferences are designed to discuss the implementation of various innovative technologies for securely and efficiently scaling the Bitcoin network. These workshops are sponsored and hosted by the industry's top wallet service providers, exchanges, trading platforms, and mining companies in the hope of reaching a consensus on the scaling issue.

Many members of Reddit BTC, an online community created by Bitcoin Jesus Roger Ver and other proponents of larger blocks, criticized the organizers of the Scaling Bitcoin conference for rejecting their proposal presentation after accepting sponsorship from the Bitcoin Unlimited team.

Refusal to make a statement

Bitcoin Unlimited, a project dedicated to increasing the block size by implementing a hard fork, was listed as one of the bronze sponsors of the workshop and conference. The Reddit BTC community was outraged because after the Scaling Bitcoin conference organizers received funding from the Unlimited team, the Unlimited team received a series of emails about their scaling proposal presentation being rejected.

Sickpig, a member of the Bitcoin Unlimited team, said that the Bitcoin Unlimited team received three separate emails from Matt Corallo, chairman of the Scaling Bitcoin Project, explaining the rejection of Unlimited's proposals for presentation because they were 'not up to standard'.

Andrew Stone (theZerg) and Peter Rizun also received similar emails regarding proposal rejections. Rizun further stated that these rejections were:

  1. Xthin: A technical filter based on improving the propagation of blocks in P2P networks

  2. Subchains that promote on-chain expansion and fast transaction verification

  3. Scaling Bitcoin by sharding the blockchain

Some members of the Reddit BTC community suspect that the talks were rejected because thin blocks are already live on the network and the sharding blockchain talk was already done last year.

While it’s unlikely that the reason these proposals were rejected was because they supported Bitcoin Unlimited, this is turning into a debate between Core and Unlimited supporters.
