“Air Cashier” provides cloud financial services to users in more than 190 countries

The concept of "Air Cashier" was born from Uphold's API. This new invention in the financial technology field is regarded as the best derivative product in the Uphold system to date.

Antonio Garcia and Ruben Corindo, two Mexican geeks, wrote the program template for the air teller. The peer-to-peer network is connected to the Uphold platform and then integrated with the banking system. Uphold provides an indispensable link for this electronic financial service.

Using AirCashier, users in more than 190 countries can directly convert funds in their bank accounts in Venezuela, Panama, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, China and Mexico into US dollars and deposit them into their online wallets, and withdraw them in local currency at any time. AirCashier also combines Uphold with PayPal, Payoneer, Alipay, Tenpay and Amazon Gift Card to provide users with convenient financial services.

Recently, Tim Parsa, Executive Director of Global Markets and Strategy at Uphold, had a discussion with Anthony and Reuben on Skype about “Sky Teller”.

Tim: SkyCashier was launched in Argentina 8 months ago. What is your experience as a developer or entrepreneur creating a scalable app?

Reuben: When it comes to financial services, people are generally hesitant about whether to trust emerging technologies. We chose Argentina as our first location because the local government has strict currency control policies. In order to avoid devaluation, people can only trade foreign exchange on the black market. This made us see an opportunity to provide the public with a faster, easier, safer and more cost-effective way to buy and sell foreign exchange. Combining bank accounts with Uphold, this service can essentially protect people's hard-earned money.

Anthony: Uphold is like the Internet for data, but specifically for money - anything is possible. But that doesn't mean customers and merchants will buy it. The key is to find out what people really want: using stable currencies to trade foreign exchange easily, instantly, for free or at a better price in the intranet. Uphold has taken this service to the extreme. The technology of Sky Cashier and the P2P network are connected to Uphold to provide convenience to the public.

Tim: Can this service also be used by customers in Venezuela or similar South American countries?

Reuben: After posting our first Facebook post and getting 1,576,719 likes and nearly 4,000 likes, Venezuela was our first pilot.

Anthony: Among the thousands of praises, there are still a group of people who question the concept of air cashier, or think it is impossible. They think that ideals are full of hope, but reality is very skinny. However, after they tried it, they all loved this service and became crazy fans, promoting us everywhere.

Reuben: Some people even describe Air Teller as "God living on the Internet". We now have more than 20,000 fans in Venezuela and more than 100 new users sign up every day. We are very grateful for this.

Tim: Sky Tellers earn commissions from transactions between the national banking system and Uphold’s digital currency. Venezuela is a success, where is next?

Anthony: Most of the Venezuelan users are from multinational families, which makes relatives from neighboring countries see that Air Cashier provides a safer, more cost-effective and better way to send US dollars back to Venezuela. So we will start business in Brazil, Colombia and Panama next. Thanks to the brother in the team who is responsible for business development in South America and is also a loyal supporter of Air Cashier, George Ferias.

Reuben: AirCashier connects the world's money in a familiar currency - the US dollar. Chinese users can top up their accounts through Alipay or Tenpay, then withdraw Mexican pesos through AirCashier or deposit the money directly into a Mexican bank account. Soon, they will be able to store and withdraw money from any account at any time.

Tim: That means that many banks will cooperate with air tellers. You need at least one teller in each country. How do you do that?

Anthony: It is still in progress. But I believe that with the strong Shangchi as our backup force, we are not afraid to go anywhere.

Reuben: Whether it’s 8 or 100 banking systems, it doesn’t matter. Thanks to Uphold, we can easily convert the two currencies without letting users know about the thrilling conversion process.

Anthony: With SkyCashier, Venezuelan customers can convert Bolivars from their bank accounts into U.S. dollars in their Uphold accounts and withdraw the money in U.S. dollars through PayPal. Online merchants can now sell their products and services to people all over the world, especially to customers in regions where direct money transfers were not possible in the past.

Tim: Let’s talk about how to get people to buy Bitcoin in AirTeller.

Anthony: Our tellers convert local currency into USD in the Uphold system, and then they can use that money to buy Bitcoin. Now, with Litecoin and Ethereum added to Uphold’s service list, users have more options for buying digital currencies.

Reuben: The Internet grew by opening up previously closed databases. We believe that cloud finance will follow the same path. We will strive to be a pioneer in this industry.
