Crazy Review : Acronis is the first data protection company to use blockchain as a data notarization platform. The company announced a new storage solution, Acronis Storage, which can protect and verify data through Ethereum's public chain to achieve data immutability. Blockchain will bring the highest level of data authenticity, privacy and data protection ever. Files can be "notarized" as soon as they are uploaded and can be permanently stored on the blockchain within seconds. Translation: Nicole Acronis, a technology company whose name is synonymous with backup and recovery software, has announced a new storage solution called Acronis Storage, where data will be protected and verified by Ethereum’s public blockchain. Acronis, a software company founded in Russia and now headquartered in Singapore, publicly announced in early 2016 that it would apply blockchain technology to its products. The purpose of this move is to achieve data immutability. In May 2016, Acronis executive John Zanni revealed that the target audience of its blockchain secure data storage solution is enterprises and individuals. Any file instance that has been time-stamped on its blockchain-based product will be stamped again with a modification log. Zanni also added that this verification will be distributed in a distributed manner. Serguei Beloussov Acronis co-founder and CEO Serguei Beloussov highlighted the company’s enthusiasm for blockchain, previously saying:
Data authentication based on blockchain Now, Acronis has announced that it is developing “the world’s first blockchain-based data authentication software-defined storage product.” The data authenticity that Acronis is pushing is achieved through its software product, which uses a distributed ledger that can record unalterable logs and is stamped with an unalterable watermark. Acronis also has a product called Acronis Notary, whose blockchain will generate a timestamped hash of data before storing it on the Ethereum blockchain. Basically, every time a participant uploads a file to the repository, the file’s “fingerprint” will be recorded in a file hash written to the Ethereum blockchain, and the file will be verified via consensus rules. When a file is uploaded it is “notarized” and a fingerprint and permanent record of the file can be stored on the blockchain in seconds. Since every participant in a blockchain has access to the same copy of the records, the data is verified by all copies of the ledger and is readily available. You can try out a sample of Acronis Blockchain here. Vitalik Buterin Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin added in the statement:
The software maker believes its blockchain-based product can be applied to any industry that needs its data protected, including property records, intellectual property-related documents, court documents with a chain of evidence, and even police videos and security camera footage. |
