Russia’s Central Securities Depository Tests Blockchain Asset Trading

Rage Comment : The Central Securities Depository of the Russian Federation and the Russian State Higher School of Economics jointly carried out an Internet finance project, which included a blockchain asset transaction and transfer test in cooperation between the Central Securities Depository of the Russian Federation and 10 Internet finance start-ups. So far, NSD has launched a wide range of blockchain solutions with strong adaptability.

Russia's Central Securities Depository (CSD) is working with fintech companies to test the trading and transfer of blockchain assets.

The project is a joint Internet finance project between the Russian National Settlement Depository (NSD) and the National Research University's Higher School of Economics; a total of 10 startups participated. NSD partners include startup iCoinSoft, a developer of white-label digital currency trading software.

NSD announced that the content of the trial is "blockchain asset circulation" and will work with customers to develop potential applications.

“NSD experts and the project team have prepared a package of solutions that apply to any existing and new asset types, supporting 500 existing assets. The iCoinSoft Exchange Platform shortens the time it takes to enter the market to two weeks, and two customers have already conducted actual testing.”

The project is the latest in a long line of blockchain experiments at the NSD.

Earlier this year, NSD announced that it would study and test blockchain voting systems to increase process transparency. In September, it announced that it would collaborate with its South African counterpart Strate on multiple blockchain projects.
