From 3:00 to 4:50 p.m. on December 8, 2016, Zhu Zhiwen, the founder of Yishu, spent nearly two hours conducting an AMA sharing session at the Babbitt Forum on the theme of "How Yishu builds a blockchain ecosystem based on the digital publishing field." More than 100 users participated in the AMA discussion. Zhu Zhiwen answered questions about the origin of the Yishu project, technical implementation, business model, and development plan without reservation. The entire AMA process conducted a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of Yishu, and there are 7 highlights in summary. Highlight 1: TPC meets ICO+, Yishu and Yunbi meet on "Double 12" When asked, “Are there any measures to protect the interests of investors?”, Zhu Zhiwen announced the partnership with Yunbi.com and said: First of all, Yishu will change the Tpc pricing activity on December 12 to the Yunbi (yunbi.com) platform. There are three main considerations. Yunbi has just launched the ico+ model, which is similar to the Yishu TPC model. It can not only help Yishu to manage funds, but also protect the rights and interests of investors to the greatest extent. Secondly, the funds are managed by Yunbi, and Yishu obtains user funds in batches. Each time, investors must vote to decide. Third, Yishu limits the price to around 0.20 (the total amount is limited to 2000 BTC) and also provides a minimum price. If the amount of 1500 BTC cannot be obtained, it proves that everyone does not recognize Yishu, and Yishu will return it without hesitation.
Highlight 2: Blockchain can achieve copyright protection in three steps There are many misunderstandings about copyright protection on blockchain. Some people question that copyright protection is fundamentally unrealizable and that real protection can only be achieved in a closed state. Some people confuse copyright protection with the fight against piracy of paper books. In this regard, Yishu has put forward its own views: There will always be people who question everything, and indeed there is no way for the government to resolve some of the questions. This involves a communication benchmark issue. For example, many people discuss how to prevent the sale of pirated books. This issue has gone beyond the scope of digital copyright, and Yishu naturally cannot resolve it. Yishu is talking about copyright protection within the legal framework, not a universal anti-counterfeiting approach. Some people are determined to believe that copyright protection can only be called "protection" in a closed environment. Based on this logic, the result is naturally contradictory to the current "sharing" spirit of the Internet. Yishu cannot refute it because the logical basis is not unified, and the solutions to the problem are naturally very different. Take a simple example provided by a guest at the "2016 China Blockchain Industry Conference". Alibaba's Pony Ma, now the richest man in China, hired a bodyguard for his own safety. According to the inference that "personal protection" can only be handled in a closed environment, Pony Ma basically paid to go to jail. In fact, the purpose of the bodyguard is to allow him to go out better and better contact with the outside world. Yishu's copyright protection is also based on this principle, sharing on the basis of protection, rather than closure.
So, how does Yishu achieve copyright protection? This is also a question that everyone is very concerned about. Yishu has given a clear answer: Yishu’s approach is divided into three levels: (1) Recording the creation time period. Encourage originality: Single-point recording, even gods cannot explain it. Yishu uses client writing tools to record the entire process of content creation, which is aggregated into time periods from a single timestamp; (2) Tracking the entire circulation process. Encourage sharing: protection is not about not sharing. Evidence collection during the circulation process is an important part of copyright protection. Yishu will record all traces during document sharing and transactions, and can easily trace the entire process to the source. (3) Community consensus and human participation. Encourage interaction: Technology is useless without people, and blockchain brings human power to the extreme. Based on smart contracts, Yishu optimizes the reward and punishment rules and encourages people to report and give feedback through tokens. Technically unclear issues can be driven by interests to get people involved. Currently, only blockchain technology can do this well and thoroughly.
Highlight 3: Yishu’s business model is unveiled for the first time Yishu's business model has never been made public. Many users are very concerned about this issue. Taking this opportunity, Yishu gave its own answer: The profit model of a blockchain project usually includes two aspects: one is how the team makes a profit, and the other is how users make a profit through the product. In these two aspects, Yishu has very obvious and unique advantages: First, the business model of the Yishu platform (1) Business service fees. Yishu has a first-class blockchain technology R&D team and has accumulated a large number of underlying R&D technologies. It is the first project in China to deeply cooperate with major technology communities and can provide a large amount of talent training and reliable technical support for the application of blockchain technology in various industries. The Yishu team can provide direct side chain development, commercial customization services, etc., which can not only bring direct benefits to the Yishu team, but also help Yishu understand industry needs and make Yishu products more perfect. (2) Targeted advertising costs. Yishu is a revolution in copyright protection. At the right time, we can cooperate with excellent authors to push targeted advertising services in the author's electronic publications and audio and video time periods. This will be a good source of income in the future. In addition, Yishu provides personalized services such as instant retrieval and intelligent reminders based on distributed storage. With reference to Google's profit model, it provides more intelligent and accurate advertising services, which can also obtain good income without affecting the user experience. (3) Charging for specific functions. Yishu adopts modular development and covers a wide range of users. Some functions are only for certain professional users. For example, professional investigation and evidence collection functions may only be suitable for professional lawyers or legal institutions. When appropriate, charging for some functions is also feasible and can generate considerable income. The second is the user profit model. Providing users with more convenience, reducing costs, and expanding revenue space are the key to Yishu’s service to users. (1) Six conveniences. Yishu provides users with six additional convenient functions for free, including property rights registration, resource acquisition, collaborative creation, blog management, digital publishing, and investigation and evidence collection, which greatly reduces the user's usage costs and is particularly attractive to users who write regularly, such as professional authors, corporate copywriters, and blog enthusiasts. (2) Expanding revenue. First, users (especially professional authors and publishers) can build their own self-media and economic circles. Second, Yishu adopts a variety of effective methods such as advertising sharing, collaborative research, and online education to maximize the authors' profit channels and scale. Third, the anti-piracy incentive mechanism directly benefits users. For example: the human factor is one of the effective means for Yishu to combat piracy. A large number of ordinary users can participate in piracy feedback and get rewards while reading original resources. Such rules will be written into Yishu's underlying protocol, greatly improving user participation and expanding user revenue.
Highlight 4: Full interpretation of legal issues Internet products are originally technical implementations. Compared with simple evidence methods such as page screenshots, the credibility and reliability of blockchain are obvious. However, when it comes to copyright, many users question whether blockchain technology is recognized. In this regard, Yishu lists a lot of evidence and comprehensively interprets the country's support and expectations for new technologies: (1) If this question was raised before October 21, 2016, we would be caught in a meaningless debate. But today, we can have a clear answer. Please take a look at the "White Paper on the Development of Blockchain Technology and Applications in China" released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on October 21, 2016. In Section [3.4 Blockchain and Cultural Entertainment], it specifically describes how blockchain technology is used for copyright protection and clarifies the role of blockchain technology in copyright protection in judicial evidence collection. (2) I attended the 2016 China Blockchain Industry Conference in August this year, which had a special session called "Sports Volume - Supporting the Development of Cultural Finance". Guests at the session included the former director of the State Intellectual Property Office and other relevant leaders, as well as experts, scholars and practitioners in the field of copyright protection (related reports). It can be said that from the national level, not only are there no legal issues, but the national level is actively promoting the application of blockchain in copyright protection, and is very eager to see more excellent products emerge. In fact, many people are not doubting blockchain technology, but whether it can be accepted and recognized by the country. This logic is also a Chinese characteristic. There is no need to think this way. Chinese people should have enough confidence in cultural development, especially blockchain technology, which has shown a good momentum of being promoted by the country.
Highlight 5: Game theory of copyright protection and free sharing Users generally believe that the existence of the Internet should be free sharing, and copyright protection is often mistakenly believed to be charged or closed for protection. Isn't this contrary to this trend? In response, Yishu first clarified the difference between "copyright protection and free sharing": "Free" does not mean that copyright protection is not needed. The "Node.js Cryptocurrency Development" I wrote is shared for free, and anyone can read it for free. However, based on my free sharing agreement, if someone shares these articles for profit (commercial use), it violates my copyright protection agreement, and I can pursue his legal responsibility through legal channels.
Then, Yishu brought out the authoritative answer from the national intellectual property experts, conducted an in-depth analysis of the issue, and dispelled the user's misunderstanding from a higher level: At the 2016 Blockchain Industry Conference, someone raised a similar question: "People are generally worried that the birth of the Internet advocates knowledge sharing, but copyright protection restricts knowledge sharing. Isn't it a deviation from the trend of the times for the country to strictly protect intellectual property rights? How to understand and resolve this contradiction?" The leaders of the National Copyright Administration who attended the meeting answered this question in three levels: (1) From the perspective of national development, if intellectual property rights are not protected and knowledge innovation is shared arbitrarily and for free, the enthusiasm of creators will be severely dampened, and the innovative genes of a country and a nation will be devoured. This problem is already serious enough in China today and must be solved with strong measures and surprising tactics. (2) From the perspective of foreign countries, the United States has done the best in intellectual property protection, but the United States also has the best Internet development. In fact, there is absolutely no strange phenomenon that strict intellectual property protection will restrict Internet development, and one will increase while the other decreases. On the contrary, when intellectual property is protected, people are more enthusiastic about innovation, and are more willing and motivated to share actively. (3) Conceptually, intellectual property protection does not mean that knowledge should not be shared. There are many ways to protect property rights. The country is also encouraging the application of various innovative technologies. Participating in similar blockchain industry summits is a good proof of this.
Highlight 6: The big reveal of the prospect Yishu proposed a market vision of "becoming the first copyright protection application, quickly occupying the market, and expecting the number of active users to reach 1 million within 2 years, and to reach a scale of 100 million in the next 5 years". This was questioned by many users. Yishu did not avoid it and gave a positive response: For this question, you can first refer to the promotion reward section of our "Yishu Green Book". We think like this. First, Yishu will take out a part of the tokens for special promotion to directly achieve a scale of 500,000 users. This should not be a big problem to start after the product is released, because it is directly beneficial to users and is still attractive. In addition, we will serve one or two publishing institutions to attract their user groups to directly participate. Furthermore, in this process, some brand promotion activities will be organized to attract some users in the technology circle to participate, so 1 million users within 2 years should have a certain basis. Then, on this basis, we will further optimize the product to ensure its own attractiveness, and achieve viral replication of the product through word of mouth from these users and through the product's own collaboration and social functions. It takes a certain amount of time for a product to be promoted and accepted by the market. Setting predictable goals on a reasonable basis is also one of the key factors to motivate the growth of the team. Therefore, reaching a scale of 100 million in 5 years is just a negligible number compared to the current market scale of 100 billion.
Highlight 7: Cultural Confidence Yishu admitted that when doing projects in China, in addition to normal development and operation, one must always be prepared to be misunderstood and attacked. For example, in the AMA, a user directly asked whether Yishu had plagiarized other foreign projects. In response, Yishu answered with confidence: Haha, this question reminds me of an old Chinese saying, "The moon is rounder in China than in foreign countries." When a Chinese project is launched, once a similar project appears in foreign countries, the first thing to be questioned is the Chinese project. I don't know what kind of logic this is. I don't have a deep understanding of other projects, so I am not qualified to make too many comments. I just want to talk about the original intention of Yishu. (1) Cultural confidence. If the Chinese do not talk about culture, no country dares to talk about culture. Xi Jinping mentioned "cultural confidence" in his important speech at the celebration of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. This term is most suitable for Yishu. Yishu has also done a lot of philosophical thinking on the elements of Chinese culture, such as the origin of the name of Yishu. Yishu has successfully held three blockchain tea parties, etc. (2) Real-name authentication. In China, copyright protection is important, not anonymous sharing. Yishu is a Chinese project, and respecting the law and users is the first thing to do. Yishu advocates sharing on the basis of copyright protection and encourages copyright confirmation through real-name authentication. This is based on deep thinking. If anonymous sharing without third parties is carried out in China, and supervision is ignored and whatever is done is allowed, it will be a very shameful thing, and it is not the path Yishu is willing to choose. (3) Focus on the entire process. Yishu solves more than just content sharing. It involves the entire process from content creation to content dissemination and even collection and publication. Yishu experienced and understood all the needs through the book "Node.js Blockchain Development". At present, no other project can experience the needs in this way and spend energy on research and design. (4) All open source. Yishu’s code has been completely open source since the beginning. Compared with some projects that have not yet open sourced a single line of code, Yishu has an open attitude and confidence.
