Vitalik Buterin reveals details of Ethereum’s “Metropolis” update, says development work will be fully implemented

Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin published a new blog post on Valentine’s Day, indicating that development work on the next phase of the Ethereum blockchain project, “ Metropolis ,” will continue.

While Vitalik didn’t mention any specific release dates, the blog post he wrote revealed some details about what might be included in the Metropolis update.

It is reported that "Metropolis" is the third phase of the Ethereum development plan, and its second phase "Homestead"
The launch time was in March last year, and the initial creation time of the Ethereum network was in July 2015, this stage was called "Frontier".

In a report last December, the Ethereum developer team said they hoped the new version of the Ethereum software would prevent incidents like The DAO’s collapse and be able to resist denial-of-service attacks against the Ethereum network.

Buterin wrote in the new article:

“Over the past month and a half, the Ethereum core development and research teams have been working on some of the developments proposed last year. We have put the fear of some security issues that occurred last year behind us and will now work on the Metropolis hard fork.”

The blog post also mentions a series of proposals that may be included in the "Metropolis" update.

One of the major updates is a concept called “ abstraction ,” which will be included in Ethereum Improvement Proposal 86 ( EIP 86 ), which aims to reduce the complexity of the Ethereum system by changing some of the basic rules of contracts.

As for other improvements to Ethereum, Buterin also mentioned some content about the cooperation between the Ethereum and Zcash teams. He pointed out that developers are developing a new programming language as a supplement to Ethereum’s smart contract language Solidity.
