However, outdated security features on credit cards and growing cyber threats make cryptocurrencies look like the safest and most attractive payment option.

A recent malware cyberattack affected 1,200 hotels including those belonging to InterContinental Hotels Group, compromising the credit card information of thousands of guests.

——It is said that the malware attack lasted for 3 months and affected several hotels in the InterContinental Hotels chain, including Holiday Inn, Hotel Indigo, Staybridge Suites, etc.

The stolen information includes data stored on the card's magnetic stripe, name on the credit card, expiration date and international verification code. InterContinental issued a statement on the data breach:

"The investigation found evidence of malware being deployed between September 29, 2016 and December 29, 2016, designed to access credit card data."
