27 UK airports accept Bitcoin for parking services, rising prices help Bitcoin penetrate into daily life

SkyParkSecure, a UK-based airport parking service provider, now officially accepts Bitcoin as a payment method at airports in cities including London, Liverpool, Glasgow and Belfast.

Are you a frequent visitor to the UK and beyond? A parking service provider is now accepting your Bitcoin. SkyParkSecure will automatically convert your fiat parking fees into Bitcoin, making payments fast and seamless via your cryptocurrency wallet.

SkyParkSecure, based in Blackpool, northwest England, does not own or operate car parks, but is a booking platform for airport parking services and other travel services such as hotels and lounges. The parking service provider claims to have facilitated more than 1.6 million bookings and provided discounts to consumers.

Now, SkyParkSecure claims to have become the first independent UK travel company to accept Bitcoin as payment for its airport parking services.

Niall Pailing, the platform’s content manager, said:

“As for which airports are currently using this service, I can tell you that Bitcoin is accepted at all 27 UK airports where we offer parking.

David Brown, the company’s managing director, said:

“While Bitcoin has yet to gain widespread adoption, we see a bright future for this innovative and secure payment method.”

It’s unclear if the parking provider is using a bitcoin payment processor to facilitate the payments, but Naill said an official announcement would be coming soon.

Shortly before SKyParkSecure announced its bitcoin payment service, US parking service provider Top Airport Parking also launched a similar service. Earlier this month, the company announced that it would begin accepting bitcoin and 25 other cryptocurrencies to pay for parking services at Denver International Airport. The company's parent company is preparing to provide cryptocurrency payment services at 30 US airports by the end of this year.
