Consensus 2017 Bitcoin Scaling Protocol: Segregated Witness and 2MB Scaling to be Deployed Simultaneously

Consensus 2017 Bitcoin Scaling Protocol: Segregated Witness and 2MB Scaling to be Deployed Simultaneously

May 23, 2017

We agree to immediately support the following parallel Bitcoin protocol upgrades, which will be deployed simultaneously and build upon the original SegWit 2Mb proposal.

  1. The segregated witness activation threshold is set to 80% , and bit 4 is used as the signaling method;

  2. A 2 MB hard fork will be implemented every six months ;

We are also committed to the research and development of technical mechanisms to improve the way the Bitcoin community sends signals, and to building communication tools to enable ecosystem participants to work more closely together in the design, integration, and deployment of security solutions that increase Bitcoin's capacity.

We welcome all companies, miners, developers, and users to join us in preparing for the future of Bitcoin.

The companies that have signed on to this consensus represent a key group of the Bitcoin ecosystem. As of May 23, this group represents:

  1. 56 companies in 21 countries;

  2. 83.28% of the Bitcoin hashrate on the entire network;

  3. $5.1 billion in monthly on-chain transaction volume;

  4. 20.5 million Bitcoin wallets;

Additionally, as of May 23, the following companies have pledged to provide technical and engineering support to test and support the upgraded software, as well as assist other companies with their upgrades:

Abra|BitClub Network|Bitcoin.com|BitFury|BitGo|Bitmain|BitPay Blockchain|Bloq|Circle|RSK Labs|Xapo

If you would like your team to also provide technical and engineering support, please let us know and we will be added to the above list.
