Charlie Lee: Stop guessing, I’m not Satoshi Nakamoto

Charlie Lee: Stop guessing, I’m not Satoshi Nakamoto

Before things get out of hand… No, I am definitely not Satoshi Nakamoto.

Litecoin (LTC) founder Charlie Lee said this in response to rumors circulating in the cryptocurrency community.

Rumors have been circulating since a mysterious Litecoin-themed project appeared on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) website. Although details about the project are currently unknown, clicking on the website will display a large Litecoin logo on the screen with a date of August 1, 2017.

Litecoin founder = Bitcoin founder?

Because of this, some of Li’s fans speculated whether he might be Satoshi Nakamoto, the founder of Bitcoin.

Although there is no evidence to prove that Lee is Satoshi Nakamoto, rumors have gradually spread to community sites such as Reddit.

In a post on reddit, a user analyzed why Lee was the founder of Bitcoin and explained why he created Litecoin after Bitcoin.

Reddit user Jaw709 said that one of the most convincing points is Lee's Twitter username. His username was created in 2008, and after Litecoin was born, it was changed from X to SatoshiLite. This is the key to prove his connection with Satoshi Nakamoto.

Lee is out?

Although this mysterious project is marked with the Litecoin logo, it seems that Lee himself is not aware of it. Lee said on Twitter that he did not know the existence of this project and speculated that it might be related to MIT's Lightning Network project. He then said that it might also be a prank by MIT students, reminding people to be careful.

In another rumor post he simply replied "I'm out :P".
