Coinbase compromised and plans to support BCC in early 2018

Coinbase, a digital currency company that previously said it would not support Bitcoin's "forked coin" Bitcoin Cash (BCC), finally compromised in the face of customer doubts. Recently, the company issued a statement saying that it plans to support Bitcoin Cash (BCC) on January 1, 2018.

In a new blog post, Coinbase communications director David Farmer said the platform initially chose to reject the digital asset, which was forked from the Bitcoin blockchain, but has now examined "all relevant issues" before deciding to add support.

Earlier this week, two distinct chains of transactions were created when a small group of miners running alternative software Bicoin ABC voted for a large block of BCC.

David mentioned that Coinbase will integrate BCC on January 1, 2018, but he also warned that the platform will only proceed with the integration as planned if no additional risks occur during this period.

He went on to write:

“Once support is available, Coinbase customers will be able to withdraw BCC. We will make a decision later on whether to support trading BCC. In the meantime, all customers’ BCC will be securely stored at Coinbase.”

It is worth noting that before the statement was released, many Coinbase customers expressed their anger to the company, and some even prepared to initiate legal action against Coinbase.
