Will Bitcoin be readily available? Ukraine plans to install 150 Bitcoin ATMs this year

Michael Chobanian, founder of Kuna cryptocurrency exchange and Kuna Bitcoin Agency, has announced plans to install 150 Bitcoin ATMs in Ukraine in 2017.

A total of 20-30 Bitcoin ATMs will be installed in the Ukrainian capital of Kiev by the end of this summer.

According to Chobanian, the decision to install the Bitcoin ATM was made due to consumer demand, as well as continued demand from Ukrainian businesses.

He said:

“By the end of this year, about 150 Bitcoin ATMs will be installed in Ukraine. This was done at the request of a consumer who contacted us. In addition, there is a growing demand from Ukrainian businesses that want to start Bitcoin business, they need Bitcoin buying terminals and sell cryptocurrencies.

plan

Chobanian said the 150 Cryptomat Bitcoin ATMs will support the sale of multiple cryptocurrencies such as ETH, Waves, Golos and Bitcoin. Consumers in the country will be able to purchase these cryptocurrencies using the country’s legal currency, the hryvnia.

Chobanian also claimed that these Bitcoin ATMs do not require user identity and can be used by all consumers . Anyone who wants to use these Bitcoin ATMs does not need to obtain any permission, which means that it will be more convenient for consumers to buy Bitcoin.

Ukraine’s Current Bitcoin ATM Market

According to data from Bitcoin ATM tracking website CoinATMRadar, there is currently only one BTM operating in the country. This two-way Bitcoin ATM was installed in the southern Ukrainian port city of Odessa in late April.

However, there are currently about 4,000 street terminals in Ukraine that sell bitcoins. These terminals are not bitcoin ATMs, but they sell purchase vouchers that consumers can use to redeem bitcoins on the website of bitcoin service provider BTCU.
