McAfee said that 1,000 Bitmain Antminer S9 mining machines will be added next, which will produce 225 bitcoins per month.
McAfee stressed that MGT Capital currently has the largest mining pool computing power in North America, although it is still some distance away from many Chinese companies. "Everyone has noticed China," he said, China has a strong mining pool computing power. According to Bitkan data, as of August 5, China accounted for nearly 81% of the world's computing power. McAfee said that according to conservative estimates, nearly 80% of Bitcoin transactions are settled in RMB, and the Chinese blockchain market has great potential.
Putting blockchain into cybersecurity products Bitcoin mining business is not the end of McAfee's vision. He said that in the future, the main business of MGT Capital will be cybersecurity business.
McAfee told reporters that in addition to Bitcoin mining business, MGT Capital is also involved in network security businesses such as privacy calls, Sentinel system for monitoring network traffic, and mobile device tracking and perception product E-tagged. Mining is to accumulate experience and expertise, and ultimately hopes to combine Bitcoin's underlying blockchain technology with the company's network security business.
In McAfee's eyes, "the decentralized distributed accounting system of blockchain can keep records in the most secure way, such as intrusion records, access records, etc." In this way, security can be improved in terms of intercepting identity theft and preventing data tampering.
But many people are paying attention to blockchain investment, ICO and other aspects. McAfee told reporters, "Blockchain network security has not received due attention at present, especially for China with strong computing power, this is an issue that cannot be ignored."
