Thoughts on EOS Super Nodes

Of course, this massage article is not as direct as the special massage article a week later, but under the bad market conditions at the time, taking practical actions to support the development of the blockchain industry is itself a gesture.

In addition, because I once announced that I would no longer work for money, my first consideration was to use "obligation" to create a node that would not do evil for economic interests. Therefore, I had the idea of ​​distributing the profits to everyone. But now it seems that my approach has gone wrong, and I have been labeled:

First of all, I am not interested in community politics at all. Even before I published this article, I did not know that distributing dividends to participants was not in line with the spirit of the EOS Constitution. Any behavior should be allowed as long as it is not expressly prohibited. Therefore, it is extremely unfair to label me as "vote bribery" without clear rules. This also exposes the ignorance of classical online media. When will these "classic media" stop winning by low-level tactics?

The EosLaoMao node will not use any form of dividend feedback to voters. Anyone who votes is just because they believe that I will not do evil and will do my best to manage the node.

Some people may ask, you get so much income, how can I guarantee that you use it for the community?

I will answer this question later, but first let’s talk about the Wallfacer in The Three-Body Problem:

My understanding of EOS super nodes is that they should be the "wall-facers" of the EOS blockchain system. In addition to being highly consistent in complying with the rules, the people behind each node should have independent values. In addition to being a good node itself, they can completely ignore any other voices.

I even think that alliances between EOS super nodes should not exist. As for whether to interact with Block.one, this is an even more secondary matter. Each node can tell others how to run the node in its own way.

I am not pretending. In actual practice, I do the same. Since I publicly announced that I would become a super node, I have received quite a few requests for cooperation or consultation on becoming a super node. Many people even want to make super nodes a business plan. However, this obviously does not conform to the operating logic of "decentralization". Therefore, my usual response is as follows:

The latest rules: Any EOS can cast 30 votes, that is, if you have 1 EOS, you can vote for 30 nodes, or you can choose to vote for only a few nodes, but you cannot vote for more than 1 vote for a node.

This is a very clever design. According to this design, voting is no longer unique. It is obviously more important for each node to do its best, and users no longer need to hesitate on whether to vote for node A or node B. Most people’s favorite nodes are unlikely to exceed 30, and EosLaoMao can only try its best to become the one you like.

What changes will such rules bring?

1. “Vote buying” is indeed no longer meaningful. Since each EOS can cast 30 votes, the competition between super nodes will be more inclined to reputation and technology;

2. The difficulty of supernode election becomes greater, and the uncertainty factors increase. If an exchange retains an overwhelming amount of EOS, it can theoretically vote to monopolize the relevant 21 supernodes. Therefore, I suggest that Block.one should set an upper limit for each address to vote, or limit the votes of associated addresses in other ways, which will make the system more secure;

3. Never treat "super nodes" as a startup project. No startup project can be built on luck. Due to the uncertainty of super node voting, it is possible to be elected or not, but for entrepreneurs, the difference in results may be cruel;

So, let’s focus on the following:

All the competition for super nodes that we see now may be invalid under the mechanism that exchanges can participate in voting. Super nodes may be monopolized by exchanges with a large amount of EOS. I hope Block.one can pay attention to this problem.

Based on this situation, there is a possibility that EosLaoMao will not be able to become a super node. If this happens, I will still regard EosLaoMao as an excellent alternative node and will not care about any cost.

If I am not sure about becoming a super node, there will be no so-called generous income, so the question of how I will use the income becomes unimportant.

However, if EosLaoMao successfully becomes a super node because of everyone's support, my promise not to do things for the sake of making money will still be valid. I believe that with my resources and abilities, I can use these profits well enough to create more value for the EOS community.

In addition, EosLaoMao's super node election is completely an independent act of Lao Mao and has no direct connection with INB. I have seen an Inblockchain in the election nodes before. This node has nothing to do with INB at present and is not made by INB colleagues, but this may give INB the motivation to make another real INBlockchain node.
