Bitmain's Wu Jihan: In the next five years, AI chips will account for 40% of total revenue

Chinese ASIC chip maker Bitmain is turning to artificial intelligence (AI) for alternative revenue sources, Cointelegraph reported.

Wu Jihan said: The field of artificial intelligence requires a lot of computing, which is a natural choice for Bitmain. Wu Jihan predicted that AI chips could account for 40% of Bitmain's revenue within five years. They just want to do something that cannot be done.

It is understood that Bitmain's Sophon BM1680 chip has been on sale since October last year. Although it is not powerful enough compared with Nvidia and Advanced Micro Devices Inc., it can accelerate machine learning at a lower price.
