GMO B2 Miner This week, Japanese internet giant GMO unveiled its first bitcoin mining machine, the B2. GMO said that the B2 miner is the world's first miner to use 7nm ASIC chips, and its chip technology is far superior to Bitmain's Antminer S9 16nm chip miner and Samsung DragonMint T1 10nm chip miner. In terms of specific parameters, the B2 mining machine can achieve a computing power of 24TH/s (computing power consumption ratio is 1TH/81W per 1TH) at a power consumption of 1950W, far exceeding the 14TH/s of the Antminer S9. GMO said that compared with traditional mining machines, this GMO mining machine can save 20% of electricity and the cost of network equipment can be reduced to 1/55. The B2 mining machine is available for pre-order starting today and is expected to be shipped in October. It is understood that GMO invested nearly 10 billion yen in the development of this product, so the price is relatively high. The retail price of the B2 mining machine is US$1,999 (tax included), while the price of the Antminer S9 is only US$837. GMO CEO Masatoshi Kumagai said: "Currently, the cryptocurrency mining industry is dominated by China's Bitmain, which accounts for 80% of Bitcoin's computing power, but no Japanese company that is good at mining machine manufacturing can participate. The B2 mining machine is intended to compete with Bitmain." He said: " We have not set business standards such as sales targets, but if the mining machines cannot be sold, we can use them in our own mining business , so I think this is an impeccable business and there is no inventory risk. We also provide an API (application programming interface) for system monitoring, which is compatible with the B2 mining machine, can detect the operating status of the mining machine after it is connected to the Internet, and prevent the mining machine from being stolen. It is reported that GMO's internal mine has started mining since the end of 2017. According to GMO's data, the company mined 472 bitcoins and 37 bitcoin cash in May alone. The total hash rate of GMO's mine is currently 299PH/s, higher than 22PH/s in December 2017. The company said that the hash rate of GMO's mine is expected to reach 3000PH/s by the end of the year, a year-on-year increase of 900%. It is not clear how much GMO's mining costs, but according to the latest cryptocurrency calculations, the total value of GMO's mining income in one month is close to $3.7 million. In addition to GMO, Canaan Creative, whose market share is second only to Bitmain, is also actively developing and producing 7nm mining machines. Recently, Canaan Creative's supply chain reported that Canaan Creative's new generation of ASICs is also being produced at TSMC, jumping from the previous generation's 16nm to 7nm, and plans to mass produce them in July.
