Washington's Franklin Utility District halts electricity applications for crypto miners

According to the Tri-City Herald, the Public Utility District (PUD) in Franklin, Washington “has stopped accepting electricity applications for cryptocurrency mining and related blockchain operations.” The moratorium, approved by PUD commissioners, is reportedly intended to give cryptocurrency miners time to adopt a proposed rate structure, and will also help PUD assess the impact of cryptocurrency miners’ power load on its infrastructure. |
