Product appearance structure

The S9Hydro purchased on the official website only includes the bare mining machine. If you use it at home, you will also need to purchase a water drain assembly and a mining machine power supply.

S9Hydro adopts a 4-computing board + 1 control board design. The computing board and control board can be seen from the mining machine.

There is a front fan on the front of the S9Hydro, but in actual operation, the speed of this fan is very low and there is not much noise. Similar to other mining machines, the network cable interface, reset button, IP Report button and status indicator light can be seen from the front of the mining machine.

The back of the mining machine is a water pipe bend, and the back is almost completely closed. This design can prevent dust from entering the mining machine.

The side of the mining machine is the connection port for the water pipe, the top is the water inlet, and the bottom is the water outlet.

Installation and Debugging

This test was conducted in the office, so it needs to be used with a water drain component. If the mine is connected to an external water source, the water drain may not be needed. The power supply is the APW5 low-noise power supply, the room temperature is 26 degrees, and the mining pool is the Ant Mining Pool.

The installation method can be followed according to the usage tutorial we sent before . First, connect the water outlet of the water pump to the water inlet above the mining machine, and then connect the water inlet of the water drain pipe to the water outlet below the mining machine. After completing the water pipe connection, fill the mining machine and the water drain with water. Because the mining machine has high requirements for water quality, I recommend that you use purified water sold in supermarkets.

After the water injection is completed, it is time to connect the power cord. This time I used the APW5 power supply because it has low noise and is suitable for home use. Connect the power cord to the mining machine's hash board and control board respectively, and then connect the mining machine's front fan interface, the water drain fan interface, and the water pump interface to the mining machine control board. Be sure to connect according to the interface marked in the figure, and finally connect the network cable to the mining machine's network cable interface.

After completing the wiring, start to power on the miner. Wait a few minutes until the green light on the miner starts to flash, then start to find the miner IP and enter the miner management backend. Fill in the mining pool mining service address in the URL, fill in your miner number in the worker column, and the password column does not need to be changed. Click Save to complete the setting, and the miner starts working.

How is the low noise performance of water-cooled mining machines?

After the mining machine has been running stably for a period of time, we will measure the noise to see if the water-cooled mining machine is really that low-noise. Because the mining machine only has a front fan with a very low speed, the mining machine itself is basically noiseless, and the noise of the entire equipment mainly comes from the cooling fan of the water row.

Since it is not a silent laboratory environment, the noise in the office is still around 50 decibels when there is no mining machine in the office. When the mining machine is placed 1 meter away from the mining machine, the noise is measured to be 54 decibels.

The noise of ordinary mining machines is about 80-90 decibels. In comparison, the noise of water-cooled mining machines is more than 20 decibels lower than that of ordinary mining machines, and the noise reduction performance is very good. Many people wanted to buy a mining machine to try at home before, but the traditional air-cooled mining machine was too noisy. Now the water-cooled mining machine can solve this problem very well!

Good chip temperature uniformity and high reliability

From the backend of the mining machine, we can see that the temperature of the hashboard is 52 to 58 degrees, and the temperature of the chip is 67 to 73 degrees. The temperature of the hashboard of a traditional air-cooled mining machine is about 60 degrees, and the temperature of the chip is about 75 degrees, and the temperature difference is relatively large. The water-cooled mining machine not only has a low temperature of internal components, but also a relatively constant temperature, which has been maintained at a stable level in actual evaluation. In the long run, good chip temperature uniformity can increase the service life of the mining machine.

The rated hashrate of the water-cooled S9 Hydro mining machine is 18TH/S±5%. In the actual 24 hours of testing, the mining pool showed a daily hashrate of about 18.05TH/S. The rated power consumption is 1728W ±10% , and the power in the actual test is 1730W, so the hashrate and power consumption are both within the normal range. According to the actual tested hashrate and power consumption, the power consumption per T of hashrate is about 95.84 W/T.
