First, let's take a look at the true face of the Antminer E3! This miner is very different from other Antminer series miners. The biggest difference is that it is very tall! It is about twice as tall as other miners. This is because the system process of E3 is complex, so it needs to be designed into an extra-large hashrate board, and the appearance of the machine will also look relatively tall.

Another difference is that the E3 is equipped with two cooling fans in the front, and there is no cooling fan at the rear of the mining machine, which is replaced by a honeycomb cooling net.

In terms of hashboard, the E3 miner also adopts a three-hashboard design. From the miner, you can see that the E3 has three hashboards and one control board.

Installation and Debugging

The power supply used in this test is Antminer APW7, which can be purchased on the Bitmain official website. We tested using E3 to mine ETH in the Antminer pool. For installation methods, please refer to the official mining tutorial of Antminer (https://cnforum.bitmain.com/bbs/topics/3371).

Noise and heat

The test location is a conference room with an area of ​​about 30 square meters and a room temperature of 25 degrees. The heating and noise tests are carried out after the mining machine has been running for a period of time.

When there is no machine in the room, the noise is 50 decibels. When the mining machine is turned on, the noise is measured at 74.4 decibels at a distance of 10 cm from the mining machine. At a distance of 1 meter from the E3 mining machine, the noise is 67.7 decibels.

After running stably for a period of time, the temperature of the air inlet of the mining machine was measured to be 32.8 degrees, and the temperature of the air outlet was 37.6 degrees.

In the background of the mining machine, we can see that the temperature of the E3 hashboard is about 47 degrees, and the temperature of the chip is about 58 degrees. The front fan speed is 3000, and the mining machine is running normally!

The official hashrate of the Antminer E3 is 190MH/S. In actual testing, from the data of the mining pool backend, the actual hashrate averaged about 200.48MH/s per day, slightly higher than the nominal value. The official power consumption of the Antminer E3 is 760W, but the actual power consumption is 733W, slightly lower than the nominal value. According to the actual tested hashrate and power consumption, the energy consumption ratio is about 3.7W/M.

E3 24-hour earnings from mining ETH in Ant Pool

As of the press release date (September 3, 2018), the ETH price is about RMB 2,000. According to the PPS mining revenue model of Ant Pool, the revenue of an E3 in 24 hours a day is 0.015 ETH, equivalent to RMB 30.

Calculated at 0.5 yuan per kilowatt-hour, E3 uses 17.6 kWh of electricity a day, the electricity bill is about 8.8 yuan, and the profit from mining ETH a day is about 21.2 yuan.
