On October 12, Dimensionality Security Lab (johnwick.io) noticed that malicious code has recently developed a new trend in deceiving users. After the Trojan is launched, while installing the Monero mining tool XMRig, it will automatically download the latest version of the Flash player update package from the Adobe official website and install it, seemingly "genuinely" updating Flash to reduce users' doubts about its legitimacy and reduce the possibility of being discovered. Once the installation is complete, the Trojan will connect to the xmr-eu1.nanopool.org mining pool and crazily occupy 100% of the user's CPU for mining. The Dimensionality Reduction Security Lab reminds you that when updating the Flash player, be sure to download it from the Adobe official website to avoid being used by various "fake" versions and becoming a mining bot for hackers. |
