MoneroV - A privacy coin that is designed to be a limited supply version of the real Monero coin we use. It has a 10:1 fork ratio; this basically means that at Monero block 1564965, if you hold 1 Monero, you will get 10 MoneroV. It has the privacy of Monero (Ring CT), and it is ASIC-resistant, which means it has the same algorithm as Monero. Let's start digging some XMV! Mining Pools Basically you need a mining pool - as a first step. You can always mine solo but you won't get rewards as often, it depends on your mining rig; if it's powerful or not. Mining pools charge around 1% or less. By using a mining pool you will get consistent rates and good payouts multiple times a day. Configuring mining softwareRegarding the following:
We will be using an xmr-stak miner. This is a great miner as it lets you mix AMD and Nvidia GPUs along with your CPU, all in one! The best part is that it is available for both Windows and Linux. Download xmr-stak at https://github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak/releases We will use the latest version, which is: 2.4.3 . If you are a Linux user, you will have to download the source code and build it. The first time you run xmr-stak you will have to do some configuration on it. We will cover the initial configuration here and then you can read the relevant sections on how to configure the miner (CPU, GPU – Nvidia and GPU – AMD) When you first run xmr-staks you will see these two windows: At the beginning of the mining software, you need to complete a series of steps. The initialization step asks the following questions: Port - Type 3000 or 8000 Algorithm: - You will want to enter "cryptonight_v7" Mining pool address - "mine-xmv.leafpool.com:9992" Username - should be: public_key.worker_ID (for the worker ID you can type mycomputer, gamingpc, or officepc, etc.) Example: 41k4Fc7JHjiUtddPqa1cMCBwZY7NSbZiGbSH9KoGrimZSRjV2UacYrr5DW93g9yvoNYvghMmJddQsCv6ngLbnyFJDatHxXr.mycomputer Password - Enter "x" SSL Support - Type "n" You want to use Nicehash - type "n" You want to use multiple pools - Enter "n" Your software should now start mining. It is a good idea to wait for "logging in to mining_pool:port". Take a look in the folder where the miner is stored and you will see text files such as:
In the next section of this guide, we will show you how to configure or edit the .txt files for each mining component. Pool ConfigurationYou can configure your pool yourself, but don't worry, I'll show you how. The poo.txt file should look like this: CPU MiningFor CPU mining, the Cryptonight algorithm is the best. We have two options: using XMR-Stak or XMRig. For this guide we will be using XMR-Stak, but you are free to use any of the two miner software, check out the download links below:
After we have completed the first step of setting up the initial miner software we can adjust the cpu.txt settings that XMR-Stak created for us when we first set it up to get better hashing. For the CPU, the software will automatically generate the default optimal configuration. After configuring cpu.txt, we need to create a batch file. In the miner folder, create a simple batch file and add the following content to it: xmr-stak.exe optional_flags If you want the machine to be able to mine using both the CPU and any other GPUs in the machine then replace "optional_flags" with "nothing_flags" -noCPU This will disable CPU for mining. For example: xmr-stak.exe -noNVIDIA If you double-click the batch file to run the miner, you will see something like this: The red arrows in the screenshot show our total speed at 10 second, 60 second, and 15 minute intervals. In order to view the overall speed at any time while the miner is running, just press the 'h' key. Nvidia GPU Mining MoneroVWe will be using xmr-stak in this guide. Let's open the nvidia.txt created by xmr-stak and tweak it to get the highest possible hashrate. As with the CPU section of the guide, GPU programs will usually automatically generate the best configuration settings. Look at the comments in the nvidia.txt file for each setting. The next step is to create a batch file in that folder and add the following lines of code to it: xmr-stak.exe optional_flags You can replace "optional_flags" with the following: -noCPU This will disable CPU for mining. An example might be: xmr-stak.exe -noCPU If you run the batch file you should see something similar to the screenshot: By pressing the 'h' key at any time while the miner is running you will see the total speed in the following time intervals:
Mining MoneroV with AMD GPUsIt is basically the same setup/mining software as the previous two and is already established. But if you have problems with virtual memory, you may end up needing 16 GB. To make this change, go to Control Panel -> System and Security -> System and click Advanced system settings on the left. How much XMV can I earn per day?You can go to the mining pool calculator to get the result: That’s it for the entire tutorial! |
