Zcoin XZC hard forks today and upgrades to MTP algorithm

Zerocoin will hard fork and upgrade the Pow algorithm to the MTP mining algorithm in 45 minutes

With the release of version 0.13.7.1, Zcoin has begun the transition to switch their proof-of-work algorithm to MTP. The required hard fork will occur on December 10 at 12:00 UTC. After this, blocks mined using the old Lyra2z algorithm will be rejected.

First: Back up your wallet

Please make sure you have a fresh backup of wallet.dat. To do this, in the wallet menu File > Backup Wallet... and save the file to a safe location.

user

Client versions older than 0.13.7.1 will stop working with the hard fork. Please upgrade your clients to the latest version before December 10th. The current version is 0.13.7.3.

Znode

If you do not upgrade your Znode, you will stop receiving rewards after the hard fork. To receive rewards, please upgrade your Znode to at least 0.13.7.1 at any point before December 10th.

As with other releases, the process of upgrading Znodes is slightly different for this release.

Since MTP proofs are approximately 200 kB each, this means that 200 kB of data is written to the hard drive every 5 minutes. This equates to approximately 21 GB of disk space per year. Please make sure your Znode hard drive has enough space for future growth!

miner

Please make sure to keep an eye on our release before the 10th. We are getting a lot of useful feedback as we get closer to the finish line so that we can implement tweaks and fixes in a timely manner.

We provide a reference implementation of the miner here based on ccminer. The CPU miner is still under development and will be finished soon. The development version can be found here.

MintPond creates various useful codes, such as a reference MTP stratum pool, node modules for hashing and validating inputs with MTP, or a BOS serializer for MTP proofing.

They are also running the first MTP mining pool on testnet!
