Japan's Yokohama Court to hear case of using other people's computers for mining

The Yokohama District Court in Japan will hold a trial on January 9 for using the mining software Coinhive to mine virtual currency on other people's personal computers. According to relevant Japanese laws, the defendant will be sentenced to less than 2 years in prison or a fine of less than 300,000 yen for the above behavior. The police said that it is illegal to use the visitor's personal computer to mine virtual currency without the visitor's consent. The visitor's "unconfirmed" mining behavior cannot be said to have obtained social agreement, and the use of other people's personal computers and electricity to obtain rewards deviates from the permitted scope.
