More than 300,000 pieces of personal information are priced at 1 Bitcoin On the Internet, the dark web is like an iceberg sinking into the water. It is much more difficult to track down the mastermind behind the dark web information than to track down the general Internet. The hacker also claimed that he not only conquered the database, but also obtained all permissions including the server, and exposed the website management background information. The Wuhan Public Security Bureau's Cyber Security Brigade quickly intervened in the investigation. After investigation, it was found that the backend management rights of the website had been stolen, and the stolen customer information included ID cards, mobile phone numbers, bank cards, home addresses, work units, loan status, etc., which were sold on the dark web for 1 Bitcoin (worth 35,000 yuan at the time). The Cyber Security Brigade, together with the Jianghan District Police Station, organized a special task force to investigate the case. The police of the special task force eventually found out that the mastermind behind the incident was a young man named Wu from Huayang Town, Shuangliu District, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province. On January 22 this year, the special task force, with the cooperation of the Chengdu police, arrested Wu. Wu, who was only 22 years old, confessed that he used a software to brute-force hack into the backend of the compromised website. He found the user registration information of the server and stole a large amount of multi-dimensional user data from the website, totaling more than 300,000 pieces. Because he did not understand the relevant technology of the "dark web", he also paid 180 yuan in tuition to an online friend. He did not expect that within two months, Wuhan police tracked him down and arrested him. Currently, Wuhan police are further investigating the flow of personal information of citizens sold by Wu, digging deeper into the case clues, and tracing the criminal chain and criminal gangs. Malicious tampering of short video apps is still "showing off" online Last November, Wuhan Internet police discovered during an open online patrol that someone had maliciously tampered with a short video app and spread it on an online forum. The Internet police immediately reported the news to the technology company that developed the software. The company's technical staff analyzed and found that such tampering would lead to the loss of core data. What is particularly serious is that the tampered software can easily be used by criminals to bring some violent and pornographic videos from abroad into the country. The Cyber Security Brigade quickly formed a special team with the Wuchang District Public Security Bureau to conduct an investigation. By analyzing the tampered software and comparing relevant information, they found out that the suspect who tampered with the software was Guo, a young man from Liaoning who was less than 20 years old. Guo modified the software code and repackaged it, allowing ordinary users to break through the security mechanism and browse bad information at will. According to the company's backend data, more than 400,000 people have used the tampered software, which not only damaged the company's interests, but also posed a great network security risk. On March 8 this year, the working group rushed to Benxi, Liaoning, and arrested Guo. After investigation, Guo confessed the entire process of the crime. He is a student at a junior college, and his major is not computer science. He has been interested in computer programming since his second year of high school. Since his family did not have the financial conditions to buy a computer, he used his mobile phone to write 100,000 lines of code. His original intention of tampering with this short video was not to make a profit, but just to "show off his skills." He shared the tampered "version" and the tampered technical details with netizens on the online forum, and tens of thousands of fans called him "the master". Encouraged by this, he further tampered with the software and divided it into two versions, "free version" and "paid version", and made a profit of more than 3,000 yuan. According to the police, Guo, who had poor social skills and a bit of a stutter, worked part-time as a code writer and food deliveryman to supplement his family income. In early January this year, he found that the spread of the tampered software was out of control, and he was a little scared, so he stopped updating it.
