Mysterious miner claims to be "Satoshi Nakamoto" and becomes the main force of BCH mining pool

Is "Satoshi Nakamoto" mining BCH?

On May 6, an anonymous miner in the BCH mining pool changed his name to "Satoshi Nakamoto" and took the first place in the BCH mining pool with 32.79% of the computing power.

This mysterious miner who calls himself "Satoshi Nakamoto" had been mining silently for two weeks before his name was revealed, and at one point occupied more than 40% of BCH's hash value.

Is "Satoshi Nakamoto" mining BCH?

On April 24, a seemingly geeky user named "gotsatoshi" appeared on Twitter and posted a tweet: "The countdown has begun."

In his personal introduction, he left the following words.

“Inventor, developer, futurist. Crypto enthusiast and blockchain evangelist. Not Craig Wright (CSW), John McPhee would probably know. Tell me if you can #gotsatoshi.”

The user also released a countdown website with the same name, https://gotsatoshi.com/. "Will the real Satoshi Nakamoto choose to come forward?" DeepChain Finance opened the website with the same question as the text in the picture.

The website "Where in the world is Satoshi Nakamoto?" poses a puzzle that has existed in the cryptocurrency field since its inception. Before this, many people tried to solve this puzzle, and some even tried to become Satoshi Nakamoto.

At present, the countdown on the website is still going on. When the time is up, it will roughly freeze at midnight on May 15th, Beijing time.

Will the real Satoshi Nakamoto show up? Will this website reveal the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto? Is this a cypherpunk joke or a marketing PR for a project or event? The truth will be revealed in 8 days. If you can't wait a week, please read the following speculations. Maybe there will be a correct prediction.

"Satoshi Nakamoto" mined BCH, and the hash value once accounted for 40%

From the end of April a few days ago until now, the figure of "Satoshi Nakamoto" appeared on the block of Bitcoin's fork coin - BCH.

Currently, some BCH blocks are being packaged by an anonymous miner and signed by "Satoshi Nakamoto".

According to public information, this anonymous miner is continuously mining BCH and once occupied more than 40% of BCH's hash value.

The anonymous identity, the signature of "Satoshi Nakamoto", and the hash value of more than 40% have caused many people in the BCH community to panic. "Satoshi Nakamoto is back, and he is going to take action against BCH, which forked Bitcoin."

However, the "gotsatoshi" who tried to reveal the identity of Nakamoto denied the conjecture on Twitter, "This is definitely not me. If you have more than 900k bitcoins, there is no point in mining more. I try not to belittle other currencies. Leave them to the banks."

People are looking forward to the appearance of Satoshi Nakamoto, but are also worried about a 51% attack on BCH. Although it is not uncommon for miners to occupy a large hash value in the BCH network,

On May 6, 2019, this anonymous miner officially changed his name to Satoshi Nakamoto, accounting for 32.79% of BCH's current computing power.

It is worth paying attention to whether this hidden miner is declaring the return of Satoshi Nakamoto or trying to subvert BCH.

CoinDesk’s PR marketing for the New York Consensus Conference?

When the countdown on the website ended, it was the last day of the consensus conference, which made people suspect that it was a joke played by CoinDesk and everyone, in order to promote it.

Judging from the lineup, agenda and scale of this consensus conference, this conjecture does not seem to be true.

Whether it is because the time is too late or the promotion method is too obscure, it does not seem like the characteristics of a heavyweight conference in the field of cryptocurrency.

The reason why this speculation may be true is that the countdown website allows users to subscribe to email notifications to get the results revealed after the countdown ends. "The live unveiling" does make people think of the consensus conference.

However, I would not be surprised if CoinDesk announced that they created this website and announced the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto on the day of the conference on the 15th, because the marketing methods of one of the conference sponsors are always so gimmicky.

Marketing of BCH?

Judging from all the information collected, the person who tried to expose Satoshi Nakamoto is not convincing enough.

When Bitcoin was first used to raise funds for Wikipedia, Satoshi Nakamoto said, "Bitcoin is not mature enough to withstand the spotlight brought by Wikipedia." Then he disappeared from the Internet.

Hal Finney, who assisted Satoshi Nakamoto in building Bitcoin, Nick Szabo, who created bit-gold, and Gavin Anderson, the first "successor" after Satoshi Nakamoto's disappearance, were all once thought to be Satoshi Nakamoto himself, but none of them have ever admitted it.

So it’s hard to believe that a cypherpunk who worked so hard to hide his identity would now reveal his identity through marketing campaigns, even riding on the popularity of Game of Thrones and The Avengers.

The anonymity of Bitcoin makes the people and events related to it full of mystery. But it does not prevent us from making a prediction about the event. This prediction is only for entertainment purposes and does not have any bias or investment advice.

Events that have already occurred include: marketing will announce the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto to intensively mine BCH tokens. Perhaps the next step will be to say in the tone of Satoshi Nakamoto, "BCH is the Bitcoin in my heart."

This may be a spontaneous marketing campaign by BCH supporters, or perhaps geeks are expressing their feelings for Satoshi Nakamoto.

No matter what, everyone who has believed in Bitcoin should be waiting for the emergence of Satoshi Nakamoto.
