60% of Bitcoin mining business is located in China, of which Sichuan accounts for 48%.

According to CoinDesk, Chris Bendiksen, head of CoinShares' research department, recently said at the Fidelity Mining Summit that the common view that "Bitcoin is mainly mined by non-clean energy, coal, in China" is wrong. His team recently conducted a study on the main regions and energy sources for Bitcoin mining and found that mining operations are mainly deployed in mountainous areas, which often have large rivers and renewable energy accounts for a high proportion of the entire energy structure. CoinShares reported that 48% of the world's crypto mining activities take place in Sichuan Province, China, where renewable energy accounts for as much as 90%; 12% of mining activities are distributed in other parts of China, where renewable energy accounts for about 50%. Another 35% of mining activities are carried out in different regions of Western countries, including British Columbia and Quebec in Canada, Washington State in the United States, and Iceland. The remaining 5% of mining activities are distributed in other parts of the world, most of which have a high proportion of renewable energy, especially hydropower.
