Tron Justin Sun promotes "Buffett Charity Lunch" to Silicon Valley for the first time

Sun Yuchen has changed the location of his $4.6 million lunch with Warren Buffett from New York to the "tech center" Silicon Valley. This is the first time the charity lunch has ever been held in San Francisco.

“We hope this lunch will serve as a bridge between the cryptocurrency community and traditional investors,” Sun told Yahoo Finance on Monday, appearing to be trying to get Buffett out of his comfort zone.

The taste of this traditional investor is as conservative as his investment. According to CNBC, Buffett's charity lunch has been held at the Smith & Wollensky restaurant in New York since 2004. Every year, Buffett only orders a medium-rare steak with a hash brown and a cherry Coke.

Sun Yuchen said, “It may be unrealistic to convince Warren Buffett to buy cryptocurrency in three hours. But we want to show him the latest progress in cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. This is not only about Tron itself, but also about the entire crypto and blockchain industry.”

Although Buffett has been skeptical of cryptocurrencies in the past, he told Bloomberg in an interview, “I’m glad that Justin Sun won the lunch, and I’m looking forward to meeting him and his friends.”

The lunch will be held at a restaurant in the Bay Area on July 25. In the past few years, Smith & Wollensky has donated $10,000 to the anti-poverty charity Glide. Sun Yuchen has also pledged to donate another $100,000 to Glide to improve the lives of homeless people in the Bay Area.

Sun Yuchen told Yahoo Finance that the lunch was paid for by advertising revenue from BitTorrent, which Tron acquired in July last year. BitTorrent is a file streaming service provider acquired by Tron last July. Tron was originally known as a blockchain platform for the entertainment industry, and Tron's cryptocurrency TRX is mainly used for sports betting. According to Bitpush data, the current price of Tron (TRX) is $0.032, and its market value is $2.16 billion, ranking 12th.

In addition to running the Tron Foundation, Sun is also the CEO of China's voice recognition social platform, Peiwo. He is also an early investor in Tesla, another company that Buffett opposes.
