CKB Mainnet Address Creation and Neuron Wallet Installation Details

Nervos mainnet is about to be launched. How to create a mainnet address and transfer funds has become a topic of concern to everyone. Today, we will introduce two official products to you:

Neuron-key-manager

• Used to create mainnet address

• No transfer function

• Currently only supports: mnemonics and keystore, private key import is not supported (for security reasons)

Neuron

• Official Wallet

• You can create addresses and transfer money

• Need to run CKB node locally

• Upgrades are required after the mainnet is launched

Usage of Neuron-key manager (under Windows environment):

1. Download (windows): https://github.com/nervosnetwork/neuron-key-manager/releases/download/v1.0.3/Neuron-Key-Manager-win-installer.exe 2

2. Install:
   Double-click the downloaded installation package and click More Information
   

   
   

Click Run Anyway

Click Install

Click Finish

1. Create a wallet:
   Double-click the created Neuron Key Manager icon and select Create New Wallet

   Enter the mnemonic you just backed up again and click Next

Enter the name of the new wallet, password, confirm password, and click Next

This is the Nervos CKB wallet you created! Save your mnemonic and select Backup Wallet. You will get a json file. You can also restore the wallet in the future by adding this json file and the password you designed before.

1. Importing a wallet You can import a wallet in two ways:

• Import the mnemonic directly, enter the 12 English words you backed up, and you can open the wallet directly

• keystore + password, you can also open the wallet through the saved json file and the set password

Usage of Neuron (under Windows environment):

It is mainly divided into two steps, one is the download and installation of Neuron ; the other is the download and operation of CKB node .

Neuron Download and Installation:

2. Install:
   Double-click the downloaded installation package and click Run

Click Install

Click on the installation to complete

1. Import a wallet Create or import a wallet in the same way as Neuron Key Manager
   

   
   

Note! Currently, when you import a wallet or create a wallet, you still use the testnet address starting with ckt, not the mainnet address starting with ckb! Transfers are also transfers on the testnet, and testnet tokens have no value!

At this time, your wallet will prompt that it is not linked to the node and your wallet is still unusable. Let's run a CKB node:

Download and run the CKB node:

2. run:

• Unzip the compressed file and remember the path of the compressed file! I saved the file directly in the G drive. The path is
  G:\ckb_v0.24.0_x86_64-pc-windows-msvc
  The folder contents appear as follows:
  

  
  

• Press win+R on the keyboard to open the run interface, enter cmd, click OK, and the command line interface will appear.
  

  
  

• In the command line, enter G: and press Enter to enter the G drive.
  

  
  

• Enter cd ckb_v0.24.0_x86_64-pc-windows-msv c and press Enter to enter the ckb_v0.24.0_x86_64-pc-windows-msvc folder

• Type ckb init -C ckb-testnet --chain testnet and press Enter to create a folder named ckb-testnet.
  

  
  

We can see that there is an additional folder named ckb-testnet in this folder. We then copy the ckb.exe file in the main directory to the ckb-testnet folder.

The ckb-testnet folder looks like this:

• Create a notepad, name it Start, then enter start ckb run in it, and save the file in .bat format:
  

  
  

• Double-click the开始.bat file and the ckb node will start running. Then when you open the Neuron wallet, you will find that it can be used normally!
  

  
  

3. If there is no problem transferring money here, you can slowly explore it.

The Neuron wallet is still in the testnet stage and needs to be updated after the mainnet is launched!
