"Genius" + "Mining Tyrant" = Fried Cat

FC’s real name is Jiang Xinyu, and he is the typical “other people’s child” in his parents’ eyes.

In 2001, at the age of 15, he was admitted to the Junior Class of the University of Science and Technology of China with the 11th place in the country.

In 2009, at the age of 23, he obtained a master's degree from the University of Science and Technology of China.

In 2011, at the age of 25, he was qualified to study for a doctorate at Yale University.

Later, after hearing about Bitcoin from David, a classmate at USTC, FriedCat became very interested and began to study Satoshi Nakamoto's Bitcoin white paper. Soon, FriedCat became a believer in Bitcoin and resolutely dropped out of Yale.

Such experience has made many people envious, but "genius" is only one label of FC, while "mining tyrant" is another.

In July 2012, Friedcat posted a message using the nickname friedcat (the origin of Friedcat's name) saying that he could make Asic mining machines, but he did not have enough funds and hoped to raise 1 million yuan in crowdfunding. Later, Friedcat successfully raised funds and developed mining machines.

In February 2013, the mining farm established by FC in Shenzhen accounted for 42% of the total network computing power. In April, FC's competitor Avalon announced that it would no longer manufacture mining machines. The total Bitcoin network computing power was dominated by FC, and the mining machine market became the world of FC. This situation even caused panic in the community about 51% attacks, and FC was forced to sell some mining machines.

However, the good times did not last long. In October 2013, due to research and development difficulties, FC's mining machines were unable to launch the second-generation chips in time. In addition, with the entry of a large number of mining machine companies, the market competitiveness of FC's mining machines declined seriously, and the computing power it controlled also dropped significantly.

In early 2014, the third generation of chips and mining machines launched by FC had explosion problems that were difficult to repair, resulting in heavy losses. Not long after, FC went to the mine alone for inspection, but mysteriously disappeared, and even his closest people did not know where he was.

On January 26, 2015, FriedCat logged into BitcoinTalk for the last time and has since completely disappeared from public view.
