Colin, the head of the Filecoin project, introduced IPFS and Filecoin to us. As a decentralized storage network based on IPFS and the only incentive layer on IPFS, with the joint efforts of miners and enthusiasts around the world, the ecology and community of IPFS and Filecoin have flourished and grown. According to statistics, in 2019, the IPFS public network grew 30 times . Google Chrome, Firefox, D.Tube, IPWB, Ethereum, Origin, etc. joined the IPFS network. Today, IPFS is storing valid data for the world at a rate of 2.5EB/day. In addition, with the help of global miners and enthusiasts, the development progress of Filecoin has also accelerated a lot, and the Filecoin network is now becoming more and more complete. About the Verifier Mechanism The validator mechanism is one of the core elements of the Filecoin project, which directly determines the security of the network and the FIL obtained by miners. This part is explained by Juan, the founder of Protocol Labs. How should we understand the validator mechanism? In this regard, Juan proposed the viewpoint of " It's not that I don't trust you, but how much I trust you ", and from this he extended the three different identities of miners: honest miners, rational miners, and malicious miners . Honest miners and rational miners will not cause harm to the network , but malicious miners (who obtain Filecoin by forging orders, etc.) are undoubtedly detrimental to the network. As shown in the figure below, the gray proportion represents malicious orders. If the malicious orders (malicious nodes) are controlled within a certain number, such as 2%-10%, then the network is healthy and safe. Therefore, what Protocol Labs has to do is to control malicious orders within a certain proportion. At this time, the importance of the verifier mechanism is self-evident . Protocol Labs hopes to construct a decentralized verification mechanism. The verification node can be you or me, and can be spread all over the world. About the Second Test Network Rewards The rewards for the second test must be the part that everyone is concerned about. Ian introduced the incentive plan for the second test network to us. The reward for the second test network may be greater than 1 million FIL (based on RMB 55, 1 million FIL is 55 million) . Test miners will test the reward through packaged storage within three weeks. During the test, miners must accept storage and retrieval transaction requests, and the official will also conduct real-time ranking. From this, we can clearly see that this is a fierce competition of storage capacity, because miners can only better cooperate in completing retrieval orders if they store more data. More questions and answers The last part is the question and answer part, which answers many questions we are concerned about, including the NSE algorithm. The main contents are as follows: Will the mainnet launch be on time? There has been no announcement that the mainnet launch will be postponed again. It is basically proceeding according to plan and the mainnet launch time remains unchanged. Are you following the top 3 miners on the testnet? They have paid attention to it and have made sufficient preparations. I am very grateful to them (among them, CDSI Alliance and Space-Time Cloud are both in the top three ). Is it possible to use NSE? When will the paper on NSE algorithm be published? NSE is still in the process of further research and optimization and will not use it before the mainnet is launched. Hardware configuration recommendations We will not make configuration recommendations, but the community is welcome to contribute their own configurations. Will the second test network be restarted? When is it expected to be restarted? There will be a few restarts, expected next week. How do I commit space sectors? Do I use valid storage sectors to process data to obtain effective storage computing power? Or do I get storage power to produce blocks as soon as I complete the committed sectors? The promised sectors will be rewarded. You cannot obtain effective computing power by submitting valid storage sectors. You must submit valid data for verification and packaging before you can obtain effective computing power. Is the storage unit FIL? Will the FIL price be stable? Will the storage price fluctuate? The storage unit is FIL, the smallest unit is atto-fil, and the storage price is real-time. How many blocks are there in 1 tipset on average? 5, and now the test network has 3. In the test network, 1 tipset has appeared in a maximum of 8 blocks. Are Filecoin block rewards based on block integration or on blocks? The block rewards of the test network are fixed, and after the main network, they will be averaged according to the tipset. Does verified data transactions, such as official hard drives or others, help incentivize competition on the testnet? No, the testnet incentive is mainly storage capacity. When will the second test rewards start? Have the reward rules been determined? When will the rules for the mortgage mechanism come out? The preliminary mechanism will be in June and the final mechanism will be in July. How does the validation data work? How is the progress? The threshold for verification is very low, and as long as you store real data, you don’t need to worry too much . What is the difference between 32G sectors and 64G sectors? Are there any miners using 64G sectors?
The overall efficiency of 64G sectors is higher, but the server requires high configuration, and most of the current miners are 32G. How long is Filecoin Phase 2 testing expected to take? The testing phase is a permanent phase and will continue until the mainnet is launched. When will the testnet competition start? How will the incentives be?
