Coin mining review: Antminer T19 88T disassembly

On June 1, 2020, Fan Xiaojun, Sales Director of Bitmain Asia Pacific, announced at the Digital Mining Summit that the Antminer T19 series products will be officially launched on the official website at 11 a.m. on the same day. As soon as this statement came out, the scene was immediately boiling.

The T series is generally a simplified version of the S series, and the price is more affordable. Let's take a look at the official parameters of this machine:

I have to say that the packaging industrial reinforced carton of the Ant T19-88T is as solid as ever, with high-density pearl foam top and bottom covers, anti-static dust bags, and no less. ▼

After actual measurement, the dimensions of the Ant T19-88T aluminum alloy mechatronic housing are exactly as shown on the official website: 400mm*195.5mm*290mm. The air inlet and outlet still use a parallel four-fan structure. ▼

Compared with the S19-95T engineering prototype that I disassembled before, this T19-88T has complete nameplates on both sides of the chassis, and the ANTMAINER T17 model trademark is also affixed to the top. It is estimated to be the official release version. ▼

First remove the air inlet fan to observe the internal hashboard structure, and you can see that three hashboards are distributed in parallel. ▼

Then remove the top case and observe the connection structure between the main control board and the computing board. Each computing board is connected to the power supply by two screws.

Next we will take out a computing board and study the core materials. ▼

The number of independent heat sinks on the back usually represents the number of chips. I counted them carefully and found that there are still 77 chips, which is no different from S19-95T.

Continue to disassemble and check the chips. There are two heat sinks on the front, each covering 38 Bitmain's self-developed fully customized 7-nanometer chips. The other half of the chips on the board are distributed in a mirror image, and the three hash boards of the whole machine have a total of 228 chips. ▼

Next, disassemble the power box that comes with the T19-85T and check the power heat dissipation performance. The power model of the Antminer T19-88T is the same as that of the S19, both are APW12, with a higher conversion rate. Three 60mm Nidec fans are arranged side by side, and the heat dissipation channel is enlarged to reduce the power failure rate. Insulation layers are placed on both sides of the power box to prevent short circuits and leakage. ▼

To ensure the stable and safe power supply of the Antminer T19, two 10A plugs can be used. After the miner is powered on, the machine IP address can be found through the router background▼

Enter the found IP address into the browser address, and you will be prompted to enter the username and password. The default username and password of the mining machine are both "root". Open the mining machine backend, enter the mining machine configuration interface, fill in the mining pool address and miner name, and the fan speed defaults to 100. No need to check, just save it directly. The less you use the factory reset and restart mining machine functions in the lower right corner, the better, which will help extend the life of the mining machine. ▼

The IP configuration interface can modify the host name, which is convenient for miners to manage the machine. The measured operating power consumption is 3145.7W and the noise decibel value is 75.4. ▼

The air inlet temperature is 32.5 degrees Celsius, the air outlet temperature is 70.3 degrees Celsius, and the ambient temperature is 25 degrees Celsius. ▼

Measured computing power: The control panel shows that the 24-hour average computing power is 88.6T, slightly higher than the rated computing power marked on the official website▼

The actual test data of the mining pool in 24 hours is 88.52T, which is also above the rated computing power on the official website. The computing power curve is smooth and stable within 24 hours. ▼

After 24 hours of indoor normal temperature testing, the measured computing power of Antminer T19-88T exceeded the official computing power index of 88T on both the local user panel and the mining pool, reaching 88.6T, with a measured power consumption of only 3145.7W and a measured energy efficiency ratio of 35.5J/T. It can be said that the measured computing power is high, the power consumption is low, and the energy efficiency ratio is low, which is the consistent style of Antminer, aiming to provide users with more conservative and reliable investment advice.

As early as April 21st, during an online event, Mr. Wu Jihan said that he hoped that the T19 product could change the impression of miners on the T series products.
