While everyone is excited, let’s review the development history of IPFS/Filecoin. July 16, 2014: The lab received $120,000 in seed round incubation funding. IPFS Protocol Laboratory was established and IPFS was released globally. 2016: The IPFS team created modules such as libp2p, IPLD, multiformats, and Orbit. IPFS has stored 5 billion files. The IPFS team announced the establishment of the Filecoin project. Filecoin's first ICO raised $257 million. Eight major venture capital firms including Sequoia Capital on Wall Street unanimously invested in IPFS. libp2p, a modular peer-to-peer IPFS network protocol layer, was released. The first ever IPFS conference was held; personal IPFS that can run on your mobile device, realizing true decentralized storage. Filecoin code is open source, and the go-filecoin development and test version is launched.
Protocol Labs announced its collaboration with the Ethereum Foundation. The IPFS official protocol laboratory held the first Filecoin global miner community video live broadcast meeting. The IPFS&Filecoin team redefined Web3.0 and announced that the global Filecoin community fans have reached one billion. The Filecoin team opened the first backup Filecoin network Lotus, which includes functions such as mining, storage, and retrieval.
