There are more than 8,000 Bitcoin ATMs worldwide, 76% of which are in the United States

As more and more Bitcoin ATMs continue to be installed, the total number of Bitcoin ATMs around the world has exceeded 8,000.

According to data from Bitcoin ATM monitoring service CoinATMRadar, most Bitcoin ATMs allow users to buy and sell various cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum, Litecoin, Monero, XRP, Dogecoin and Tether stablecoin USDT with cash, but some machines only support Bitcoin, while others only allow users to buy Bitcoin through the ATM but cannot sell it.

Currently, there are 73 countries or regions with Bitcoin ATMs installed. It is worth noting that of the 8,210 Bitcoin ATMs installed worldwide, 6,243 are located in the United States, accounting for 76% of the total. Canada ranks second in the number of Bitcoin ATMs, with a total of 788, accounting for 9.5% of the total.

Among other countries, only the United Kingdom and Austria have more than 100 Bitcoin ATMs, with 273 and 155 respectively, while Zimbabwe, Norway, New Zealand, Mongolia, Malta and India only have one Bitcoin ATM.

The number of Bitcoin ATMs around the world has been growing steadily, from 3,000 in May 2018 to more than 6,000 in November 2019. The number exceeded 7,000 in March of this year, and more than 1,000 Bitcoin ATMs have been installed in the past two months.

Just last month, Bitcoin ATM operator Coinme completed a $10 million Series A funding round led by Pantera Capital. In addition to providing physical ATM services in cooperation with Coinstar at the physical level, Coinme also built an API that includes all ATM functions, through which the service can be integrated into all ATMs.
