About $1.4 billion lost in Bitcoin ransomware attacks in the US

On July 5, Jason Ingalls, security expert, founder and CEO of Ingalls Information Security, said that the number of Bitcoin ransomware attacks has surged in the past few years, and this happened entirely because hackers wanted to obtain BTC in the fastest and easiest way. Ingalls said that only in the United States.

About $1.4 billion in BTC has been lost due to Bitcoin ransomware attacks. Ingalls explained: "Cryptocurrencies play an important role in the international chain of wealth transfer from victims to criminals in ransomware." Liat Shetret, senior advisor at cryptocurrency regulation and policy firm Ilipic, said that Bitcoin is still more popular among crypto hackers given that it is fairly easy to obtain.
